Your favorite rig for a MM Sterling ??

I've been through several amp/speaker combinations with my two primary basses, MM Sterling 4-string and Hamer Cruisebass 2tek 4 string. I play both tuned down one whole step. D-bottom.
The Sterling gets more duty call and has the stronger gain. not necessarily "better", just more signal routing to the pre-amp, board, whatever

I'm happier with the rig I have now versus some of the others in the past. the best 'out of box' rig is my old Workingman's 12 - built sometime in the late 80's I guess.... but it lacked the power for a bigger hall. So I went through Yorkie, Eden WT, a seriously dirty but impressively loud Hartke 350, various cabinets, etc... even an OLD Acoustic combo.

But in the last three years I've used a GK700RBII with an Aguilar 12 cab [the one with the horn & crossover, ported].
Its nice in a small space also, but difficult in a big open room.
The amp is pretty good dialed in to one particular setting, but that's it... its a case of trying to weed out what does not sound particularly good with the Sterling. I end up with everything CUT except the low/low. I do not use the GK's "boost" as all that seems to do is seriously boost the things I don't want to hear.

So I'd like to chunk it all and start fresh again.

What do you guys use with a Sterling?

My two main playing basses are also an MM Sterling 4 HP and a Hamer Cruise 4 with a 2TEK (aLso have an early set-neck Cruise, which is probably my desert-island bass, to be quite honest.)

I've used a 7 Band Trace Elliot 1x15 combo (and have, but rarely use, a 1x15 with horn Trace exentsion cab,) It's had a good enough sound with whatever bass I've been using, but most times, I ususally just go straight from the bass into a DI and the board, rather than an amp (and I honestly haven't even turned the Trace on in at least 5 years.) I upgraded pickups in the Hamer to a set of active duncans, so I could have a good tone straight to DI.

The Sterling has a great stock preamp and pickup, so no probs going direct for me there. It's a great complement to the Hamer and those two basses pretyy much cover anything I'd ever need.

We don't have the best board setup and running the bass 'dry' all the way to the board doesn't work well at all. dunno...dunno. as much as anything I'd like to have a good rig as a "reference tone" to actually help the PA guys get acclimated.
Markbass maybe.... played one with a sterling in GC and the tone was awesome [one of their small heads, small cabs]
