Your most and least expensive basses

At the moment, $280, this is both my most and least expensive bass, a Kramer Pioneer...
A solid 80's Kramer at a great price. Nice! All you need, right?
Most - custom made Knuckle Guitars bass, 36.5" scale, mahogany, pore-filled with ebony dust from ebony f/b, etc. Beautiful bass. Unfortunately, I use it at church or in very "friendly" venues only.
Least - $300 Sire Marcus Miller, fiver.
The one I use the most (my "go-to" bass), is a early 1990's Carvin that I purchased new. Others have come and gone, including Alembic Orion, G&L L2500, Fender P (MIA), Peavey, MTD Kingston, but the Carvin is the one I grab daily. Back then, with shipping and h/s case, about $1100.

Yeah this one I've had for a long time, although I've had many other basses of different brands over the years, this one stays. Honestly there is no situation I've ever played that this bass won't handle. And the build quality on these USA Kramers is insane for the money. They fetch more like $500-600 these days, and are honestly sleepers even at that price.
My custom shop Jaco I purchased in 2001 would be my most expensive bass, but less than what they go for today.
Adjusted for inflation, last years purchase of a 2009 Squire Classic Vibe 60s J for $300 has to be the least I’ve paid for a Bass -certainly less than the $300 I paid in 1980 for a ’78 P. (and that Squier does not disappoint!)

Agreed, no discrimination if it feels good to play! I have a Squier mini precision bass in Dakota Red that I bought from Guitar Center brand new for $180.00 to take with me when I'm traveling for work and want to kill time in hotel rooms. I was really surprised with how well it plays. It sounds like a traditional, full size P Bass with a very clear sound, is light weight and a lot of fun to play.

The most I’ve ever paid for a bass is what I’ve churned out to put together the custom dream bass I’m building. I’m on 11 weeks waiting for the neck and body to be painted/finished, but hopefully soon they’ll be her and I can start the build.
The least I’ve ever spent on a bass was $110 for a Squier Pro Tone P 5er that was one of my main basses for years. It was truly a remarkable instrument. Sold it and it’s matching Strat partner back at the beginning of the Pandemic when things were rough financially for us working entertainers. They’re kinda collector’s items now. Doubt I’ll ever get one back in my hands, but my new 5er gets here tomorrow, so I think I’ll be ok with my BBP35

Cheapest: Harmony short scale (more of a toy, really), $30.
Most expensive? Depends how you define it, but my modded out Squier VM p bass TB has cost me the most, around $800 into that bass over the years.

Least expensive: Hadean fretless bass uke, $175

Cheapest: Squire Bronco bass, modded with jazz pick ups and stripped the neck and added amber nitro (and new headstock detail I had kicking around since the original was sanded off....). Also added a stacked knob jazz controls I had kicking around. Great playing and sounding bass. It's the bass I've had the longest and it's my back up at gigs.
Ric (s) most expensive. Too expensive, so I always worry about them and end up selling them off. Under $1000 seems to be my sweet spot for feeling comfortable throwing a bass around in cars and on stages etc.

The most I've ever spent on a bass not factoring in inflation was the $1200 for this EB3-L which is just about 10 times more than I offered my high school pal in 1978 for his when he was selling. He ended up selling it to someone else for $15 less and I spent a couple decades stewing over the injustice before finding this:
