Your practice setup

I have a Joyo Power Supply 5 (rechargeable) so I can set this up anywhere and play using headphones! The wireless receiver is also being power by the Joyo so it’s completely cordless other than being tethered by the headphone wire.

My normal amps. I don’t have a specific practice amp and I don’t like headphones.
I’v often thought about a practice amp but never pulled a trigger on one.

Currently, P Bass into Boss ME90B using headphone out to IEMs. I have the Bluetooth thing on there so I can pipe music into the ME90B through my phone or iPad. Since we use IEMs at rehearsals and on stage, that's the way I practice. Plus, I can do so anytime and not bother my wife.

If it's a tricky song I'm trying to learn note for note I'll plug into my Mac Mini via Scarlett Solo interface and use a program like The Amazing SlowDowner.

I use this more and more these days.

I like that I can bring it anywhere and it runs on usb power banks and has Bluetooth.

How are you liking the Mesa Preamp? My ME90B seems to be working well as an all in one solution to go to FOH and IEMS, but I'm always curious about the latest thing, and that Mesa looks super useful!

I like that I can bring it anywhere and it runs on usb power banks and has Bluetooth.

IMO that is a much better deal and a better unit than the one I got for portable practice, the Blackstar FlyBass with extension cab. 30W and 4" so much better than 6W and 2x2". Also the Blackstar with extension costs 2X as much. Is the clarity decent? Here's my Blackstar.

The Joyo isn’t very loud, and the compressor is too heavy handed, but it sounds pretty good at low levels. It has three band eq with sweepable mids, but I find the mid control not totally Intuitive with the higher mid frequency settings almost sounding like a mid cut. It does get enough low end to not be annoying.

It’s easy to overdrive the input so I have to dial the volume back on my bass.

It also can serve as an audio Input to a digital recorder via USB C which is kinda cool and gives you another way to use it for practice or play along.

I wouldn’t use it for jamming or anything, but for home use, it’s great.

I had a Roland Micro Bass Cube with the 4 little speakers, and I like this amp better even though it doesn’t have the drums or effects.

Bluetooth makes up for a lot, and the Joyo is way lighter, and I think it sounds better, but I never got to compare them side by side.

I'm a weekend warrior playing at several different churches in my area. 99% are silent stage with IEM's. I use a multitracks playback app through the churches multitracks accounts on my iPad that is interfaced with my X32 rack, which allows me to control each instrument in separate channel sliders... similar to separate instrument stems. It's like playing with a virtual band... where I can fade, EQ, and Pan to my preference. I also have drums, bass, and Moog going to my Bassboard, so I can feel like I'm live on a stage playing loud... but playing at low volume, and not disturbing others in the house, or neighbors.

One of my biggest weaknesses is I'm obsessed with tech... so I'm a little extreme. This is my home silent practice setup at the moment (I have more plans/projects I'm currently working on)...

Also, I do have silent band rehearsals or jam sessions with friends at home.. so it's not just used for me alone.
