Oh hey, and I just thought of something else. I went downstairs and absolutely nailed that on my Jazz bass. I'm not a great bass player, but I'm pretty experienced. My action is fairly low. Not super low, but I mean, really, that bass plays like butter for me. We might need to think about your setup. A good setup can separate a mediocre player from a great one, believe me!

I think my setup is fairly good. I setup all my basses myself and can get the action fairly low with no buzz.

I really think I just need to put in the time on that part alone and do exactly what you said. Play it slow and slowly speed it up.
