Your "stage" experience

I hear you on the mike punch in the teeth there phalex, that has happened to me to many times to count. Maybe the reason this cat has a set of fake teeth to worry about LOL. But got to admit being right there eye level with your audience is a cool way to get in their face and rock-n-roll.

I played a few gigs in a bar that had mostly burned down and the "stage" was a couple of cars parked next to what was left of the deck. Bands played while standing on platforms built onto the roofs of the cars.

Here's a view from the stage.

Tom's Burned Down Cafe

Played on stages of all sizes, indoor and out but some of the weird ones that come to mind are:

A 40-year-old boyscout camp in the mountains of McCall, ID playing for a bunch of forest service people. (This was actually really cool = 2 fire pits in front of the stage and ampitheater-style seating made of logs in the middle of this log-cabin city)

The 2nd story of a very old barn (twice) at the base of Mt. Adams at a hippie-fest site that has been going for a few decades. Cool festival, scary stage.

And one of my least favorite memories: Sea/Tac people, I know you've been/played here;
Bob's Java Jive! This place is shaped like a tea kettle (no, I'm not kidding) and the stage (yes, this place actually has a stage instead of just the floor) is about 5'x5', with a rail around it so you can't even "extend" things a bit. We (a four piece at the time) couldn't even breathe without touching each other. I was attacked by the crash cymbol quite a few times that night.

There are more "situations" but these really stick out in my mind.

Started off singing in the church choir weekly (or more often).

After that:

Elevator in a factory used for artist studio's, first gig on bass and synth.

Stages of local clubs.

Veranda & balcony.

A boat yard's storing space for boats.

Open truck trailer at a local market.
