Alright thanks guys I was just wondering if it might be something to replace in the future in case I wanted to upgrade the bass but it seems like its already a good bridge.
The G&L bridge has a cast-in extension that fits snugly into a body rout. This extension helps to transmit the vibration of the strings into the body.
Isn't this more or less how an Alembic is built?
One of the very best, IMO.

Even tho the fivers could use a few more anchor screws, eh?

The Saddle lock screw physically squeezes the saddles together and further squeezes them as a unit into the bridge structure. This directly couples the strings' vibration to the bridge and allows the strings to sustain as long as most "string-thru-body" designs.
