Your ultimate supergroup.

I know supergroups are generally seen as the disappointments of the music world (exceptions being Cream, Them Crooked Vultures and Audioslave) but what would be your perfect supergroup? Rules are any member has to still be living. (Controversial I know:eyebrow:) The members can be from any genre and from the same band (I imagine the bassist being the hardest choice...) The band can be any size (As long as it isn't overkill e.g 5 guitarists, 3 bassists etc.) Here's mine:

Vocals: Chino Moreno (Deftones)
Guitar/Vocals: Josh Homme (Queens of the Stone Age)
Guitar/Vocals: John Frusciante (Red Hot Chili Peppers)
Bass: Flea (Red Hot Chili Peppers)
Drums: Taylor Hawkins (Foo Fighters)

What's yours?

Sunny Day Real Estate.

Get Mendel back from the Foo Fighters and I would love to hear another album like Diary or LP2. Everybody in that was talented and they made stellar music that stuck with you on those two albums. I can't even listen to Mendel play with the Foo Fighters, it's too dumbed down.

Super Groups typically fail due to creative chemistry issues. So Sunny Day would be my super group.

Even if it's slightly off-topic, I agree, SDRE were really good. However I would prefer Nate in the Foo Fighters. I would love to see him join up with SDRE again (and possibly make a new album) if the Foo Fighters take another break.

Still off topic. Dave Grohls songwriting is predictable. He uses the same types of hooks on every album. Yeah I know it's radio and ear friendly but I get bored of it. I haven't really liked an album since The Colour and Shape. That album is fantastic.

Again, I slightly agree with you. The Foo's went a bit downhill after Colour and the Shape but I think Wasting Light is a good return to form.

[DEL]Syd Barrett (Pink Floyd) - Lyrics + Vocals and Guitar (Ups, he's dead and hasn't written anything for a long time, I guess the rest of the group have to do without him then)[/DEL]
Mike Patton (Mr. Bungle) - Vocals + Lyrics
Julie Slick (Paper Cat) - Bass
John McEntire (Tortoise) - Drums + Synth
J. Mascis (Dinosaur Jr.) - Guitar + Drums
Lee Ranaldo (Sonic Youth) - Guitar

Not sure what kind of music they'd make.

Brian Setzer: Guitar, banjo, vocals.
Martie Maguire: Guitar, banjo, dobro, vocals.
Eric Clapton: Guitar, vocals.
Jean Millington: Bass, vocals.
Steve Winwood: Organ, guitar, vocals.
Garth Hudson: Lowrey organ, piano, keyboards, saxophones, accordion, horns.
Ringo Starr: Drums, vocals.
Levon Helm: Drums, mandolin, vocals.

Fill-in members:

Sheryl Crow: Bass, guitar, vocals.
Mark Knopfler: Guitar, vocals.

The greatest supergroup that ever will be has been:

Five Peace Band:

Chick Corea
John McLaughlin
Kenny Garret
Christian McBride
Vinnie Colaiuta

Take 5 guys who can play their stream of consciousness, give them one collective mind, and you have 5 Peace Band.
