Zeppelin's Fool in the Rain...

My cover band would like to do Fool in the Rain and I'm cool with it because it's a good tune and fun to play. They want me (the bass player) to mimic the the Page lead break which is guitar synth -1 octave. Frankly it's a crappy lead break in my opinion, maybe Jimmy's worst and I'm not thrilled with cover it. Anyone do this before...? If you did how did you get the right sound and how did it work...?

See youtube, etc. It was/ is a synth-emulator box. Good luck; not my fave solo of Page's body of work either.

Just get the guitar player to play the solo with an octave pedal. It will sound really sloppy to try to double that part on bass.

When you say "mimic," do you mean double the guitarist? If so, I vote for getting a $40 used octave box for the guitarist.

IMO, before you call stink on the lead break, try playing it (on guitar or bass)

Great solo by Jimmy....I'd tell the guitar player its a GUITAR SOLO, play it on guitar with an octave pedal

That solo sounds like it has both the original signal and octave down, so unless you've got an octave up effect to mix in, you're going to sound like you're missing something.

That was my thought too. I think it might work well.
