They are tagged as "Downtempo" or "Chillout"... a short step from the Acid Jazz stuff I dig so much, but not much the same either.

Anyway, I've been listening to a lot of Zero 7 lately

Yup. Been diggin Zero 7 for about 7 years. It really has great staying power in my ipod, unlike some electronica that is cool at first but not long-term (Oakenfeld, Chemical Brothers).

I'm currently listening to some STS9, Thievery Corp and Groove Armada mixed up with the Zero 7 stuff

Thievery Corp was also on the 'Garden State' sound track with this tune.

Reviving an old conversation- Ive been into Zero 7 for just over a year, and I have yet to find out who the bass player or players are. There is no credit given for the musicians, it seems! Anyone got insight on this?

Reviving an old thread as I can't find much here on Zero 7 (one of my favorite... bands? projects?). It seems Sam Hardaker does the bass playing on their live recordings, I really love his sound & playing. I just recently discovered & fell in love with their latest EP, Shadows (feat Lou Stone):

the bassist is robin mullarkey who has done the bass for them since the beginning. he is playing in that video as well. i'm a big Zero 7 fan, and wish they would put out more stuff and tour the states. those first 4 records were just sensational.
