Zombieland...an opinion

I'm all over this movie. Big Zombie fan. Woody, well I have no real opinion on him, but the movie looks like a big zombie party.
I love the zombie movie genre big time, as George Romero envisioned it. Sean of the Dead was a great deal of fun for me as well. The trouble with the genre is that it's flooded with stinkers from both the pure horror and horror/comedy schools of thought. Even George Romero has fallen down a couple of times, and he's the father of the modern zombie horror film! I am interested in this new movie, but I'm not much of a Woody Harrelson fan these days. I shall wait patiently for the early reviews.

I'm still waiting for that big budget epic zombie film to come out. Something that doesn't look like it was made on a direct to video budget, and has the ability to create suspece and atmosphere.
Woody usually has decent taste in comedy projects, so this movie might be funny. I doubt it'll satisfy my zombie jonesing though.

This movie looks like **** I enjoy my zombie movies but this one looks like crap.

Didn't like it.
I prefer my zombies to creep along, like an old Sabbath tune. sprinting zombies changes the genre around too much for my tastes.
Agreed. Fast moving zombies, are not zombies. I'm not sure what they *are*, but a real zombie moves slowly, and groans. Everyone knows that. 28 Days Later let me down in several ways, not the least of which being the last 60 min.

Exactly. There's something far more awesome about numbers overwhelming you than speed. Faster, smarter humans sequestered into a fortified location eventually being outdone by the masses.
And yet almost every single zombie movie has resulted in the humans being nearly, if not entirely devoured/converted. A single zombie may go down easy, but their strength is in numbers and persistence.
I just don't understand comedy/horror movies, because if there was an actual zombie invasion, I don't think too many people would be cracking jokes.

I actually would be really happy with a full length, zombie movie version of the film Thriller (minus the dance numbers of course). I thought that there was good atmosphere and costumes when the directior (Landis?) was going for it. There'd have to be fleshing out, of course, but the actual zombie sequences I thought were well done.
Having said that, I suspect a Youtube link will procede this post with Philipines prisoners dancing en masse.
I think technically, the 'zombies' in 28 Days later were not zombies, but people infected with the RAGE virus.
28 Days was a goodish flick, although not a true zombie movie. I too would like to see a big budget modern version of the ole slow and lumbering zombies. Play it as a psychological thriller.
