Zoom B1 Four users :

UPDATE
Not sure if my ears were just tired, or if this really made a difference, but I upgraded my firmware and it did seem to help. To me, the 2.0 B1 Four update seems to be an improvement.

Ear fatigue can happen pretty quickly when trying out a new multi-effect., even within the same Zoom family. Sometimes I like to set the tuner to Bypass mode so that I can quickly toggle ALL the effects off in a single pedal push, just to hear if I'm too heavy on EQ or other tonal changes inside the patch.

Glad to hear the B1 Four is starting to work out better for you after the update. Also agreed on the LPF/HPF function - a well thought out choice to be offered in a bass multi-effect unit.

Hi folks. It's my birthday next week and I have reason to believe that I'll be getting some money for it. I'll be taking that money to my local guitar shop to buy a Zoom B1 Four
Out of interest, do you find that the B1 Four meets all your needs, or do you use other pedals/preamps in addition to it?

The B1 Four is hard to beat for an affordable, stand-alone, multi-effect pedal no matter how you slice it. The amps sims & compressors are really good and the distortion/OD's are greatly improved over the previous unit. Little to complain about from my perspective - definitely worth giving one a spin to decide for yourself. Oh, Happy Birthday (next week)!

Thanks! The effects you mentioned are the key ones for me, so that's encouraging.
Can't wait to get into it. I also follow the Zoom B1 Four patch ideas thread, so will try out some of the ideas people have posted there.

It's a cool little multi unit - some good tones lurking in there. The only other thing I'd suggest is checking to ensure it's got the latest firmware version installed (manual will show you how to check).

If not, it's easily downloaded here: B1/B1X FOUR Support

So my birthday hath arriveth and I trotted down to my local guitar shop to buy a B1 Four with birthday present funds. They only had the X model, which i didn't want, but it is on sale at just $1 more than the non X one.
I can't really see myself getting much use out of the expression pedal and I'm all about keeping things compact and light so I asked them to get a non X model sent over from one of their other shops.
Is anyone getting regular use out of the expression pedal on their B1 Four X? If so what do you use it for?

I use it live a lot - I have the B3n - and love that - but for short fly gigs- I wanted a small footprint - same effects - mainly - a little comp - Octaver - little dirt - I bring a JDi and I’m set - some peeps get queezy about the plastic case - whatever - it’s stellar and hard to believe it’s $100 bucks - I got the pedal version - no regrets - and I still have all the my pedals - Aguilar - VT Deluxe - MxrComp - Diamond Comp etc etc - I love them - but don’t miss the old pedal boards

Live it’s valuable for Tuning - hit it and it’s like a mute if u set it up that way

I have the regular, non-X version. As far as the tuning mute, the built in tuner can be configured to mute the signal or to bypass all effects. Personally, I've never really liked volume pedals; I prefer basses with a master volume, or, for DB, small belt-clip size preamps with a master volume.

That said, I haven't totally written off the X-version. If I decide to give volume pedals another go, or if for some reason I need a wah-pedal or something, I'll probably order the X-version.

That's pretty cool to hear that an owner of such great individual pedals rates the B1 Four so highly.

I like the ability of the tuner to automatically mute the signal.

What compressors are you guys/gals using on the B1 Four/B1X Four, and how are you using them? In other words, what's the best one to use as a limiter, what's best for slap, what's best for a little sustain, what's best for lots of squish, etc. etc.? I've been having trouble really dialing them in. I wish Zoom would have included one that is more full featured with two pages of settings.

Perhaps some of the amp or preamp models provide some nice built in compression?

Hi Guys! I am new to the Zoom B1x world as I have bought it for a studio project, but I became a bit unsure with my decision. Have any one of you made professional recordings with this unit in the studio? Is it suitable for such a thing or is this just a "toy" or a "practice tool" and I should not expect any serious results from it? (At home it sounded cool while practicing, but I am contemplating of returning it if it can not handle studio use) Thank you in advance! :)
