Zoom b3 patch Ideas

Here's a patch Idea I just thought of. it's a little old school, but I think this would sound great for those who play classic rock. this is a warm tube-like sound with some grit that adds more edge.

Vintage tube overdrive

Section 1: m comp: thresh:24, ratio:7, level:70, attack:5

Section 2: t-scream: gain:40, tone:50, level:80, balance:30

Section: svt: bass:4, mid:3, treble:5, midfq:300hz, gain:45, level:70, ultra: low, cab:ag8x10, mix:59

Gotta give that one a try, thanks for posting. For classic rock I've found that the SVT and the B-Man amp models work best.

Anytime dude...I've tested this patch recently and this patch sounds better with the ultra set to low. it gives it a smooth warm sound. so yeah...feel free to give this patch a try and feel free to adjust any settings to your liking. after all, that is the point to this thread. to give talkbass members an idea on certain patches and if desired, adjust the settings to their liking.

Here's a new patch that I've come up with.I'm really impressed with this one. this is a warm heavy distortion patch that sounds pretty close to an ebs metaldrive. this is definitely one of the best patches I ever came up with. this is an awesome patch for metal music.

Modern bass distortion

Section 1: m comp: thresh:24, ratio:9, level:70, attack:5

Section 2: metalwrld: gain:25, tone:18, level:100, balance:25

Section 3: svt: bass:3, mid:2, treble:2, midfq:400hz, gain:45, level:59, ultra:low, cab:ag8x10, mix:59

Here's another patch I've come up with. this patch has a warm fuzz-like distortion that can add more growl to your rig. a great patch to try out if you're a bass distortion enthusiast.

Warm distortion

Section 1: limiter: thresh:25, ratio:4, level:90, release:4

Section 2: splitter: high:24, low:38, fq:250hz, level:90

Section 3: bass bb: gain:18, bass:4, treble:-5, blend:25, level:75

Crystalman,

Have you got your settings for your "SVT" patch handy?
(Just heard it on Soundclick)

......I want to try it out with my Rickenbacker.

Thanks in advance,
Greg

I only use the ampeg svt model for that sound sample when I recorded. but since you asked, this is the setting I did if I remember correctly.

SVT: bass:4, mid:2, treble:3, midfq:350hz, gain:45, level:50, ultra:low, cab:ag8x10, mix:50

The night I recorded that sound sample, I put the ampeg model on section 3 of the patch. so for the first 2 sections of the patch, you can add what ever additional effect you want. rather if it's a compressor, a limiter, a modulation effect, or a distortion effect, feel free to add whatever effect you desire. hopefully this would help you out. give it a shot and see how it sounds with your rickenbaker bass.

Here's another patch that I've come up with. this is a smooth bass boost that adds more lows to your sound without distorting your rig. a great patch for both recording and live performances.

Smooth boost

Section 1: bottom b: bass:5, treble:4, level:64

Section 2: g-krueger: bass:4, mid:2, treble:3, midfq:300hz, gain:40, level:75, color:mid, cab:ac1x18, mix:50

Section 3: m-comp: thresh:24, ratio:5, level:90, attack:7

SVT: bass:4, mid:2, treble:3, midfq:350hz, gain:45, level:50, ultra:low, cab:ag8x10, mix:50

Thanks man!
With a little tweaking it works nicely with the Rick.

It originally sounded to me like you may have had a bit more gain than that.

Here's my very first attempt(s) at uploading sound files to the internet! I have four of my B3 patches there as well as a variation on Crystalman85's "Smooth Boost" patch.

Smooth Boost is interesting, amp model in the middle!
Did you try it in 3rd position before choosing this arrangement?

Greg

I haven't try the amp model in the 3rd section. I was testing out one particular patch when I came up with the smooth boost patch. that patch I was testing out has an amp model in the middle and I was testing out how it sounds with the gallien-krueger amp model with the m comp on the 3rd section and adjust the bass bottom boost model on the 1st section. and that's how I've come up with the smooth boost patch. also I don't think it matters if the amp model is in the middle section or not. I normally would put the amp model in 3rd section, but for this patch, I don't think it really matters.

Anytime, dude...does it really sound like there's more gain than that?...perhaps is sounded it had more gain mainly because I demoed the svt sound sample with my schecter stiletto bass. that bass happens to have a warm growling sound. but there's also some punch considering that it is equipped with a set of dunlop stainless steel strings. there's 2 basses I use for my sound samples. my schecter stiletto bass and my Ibanez soundgear bass. my Ibanez soundgear bass has a brighter and punchier sound and I sometimes use that bass for the sound samples I record on my soundclick website. so those are the bass I use for my sound samples.

You got some great sound samples. your take on of the smooth boost patch sounded pretty cool. I was gonna record that myself, but other than that, it sounded pretty cool.

Here's another patch I've came up with. this patch is a bright tube-like patch with a boost. a great patch to use if you play in a band consisting 3 guitar players.

Boosting bassman

Section 1: any effect you want

Section 2: booster: gain:40, bass:2, treble:-3, level:70

Section 3: b-man: bass:3, mid:2, treble:2, midfq:350hz, gain:40, deep: off, cab:gk4x10, mix:50

Here's another patch I've came up with. this is a tube-oriented bass distortion patch that adds more grind to your sound. a great patch for hard rock, punk rock, and heavy metal music.

Neo classic bass distortion

Section 1: m-comp: thresh:24, ratio:5, level:80, attack:7

Section 2: squeak: gain:30, tone:18, level:80, balance:25

Section 3: svt: bass:4, mid:2, treble:3, midfq:350hz, gain:45, level:59, ultra:low, cab:ag8x10, mix:57

Note: on the ultra control on the svt model, you can low for a smooth sound, high for a mid-rangy sound, or both for mid-range punch with some smooth lows being added.

Here's another awesome patch I've come up with. this is a smooth heavy fuzz patch that's great for heavy metal music. it's also great for drum and bass bands.

Smooth bass fuzz

Section 1: any effect you want

Section 2:bass muff: gain:70, tone:45, level:90, mode: bass boost,
balance:30

Section 3: g-krueger: bass:4, mid:3, treble:2, midfq:400hz, gain:40, level:90, color:mid, cab:swr4x10, mix:57

Crystalman,

It may be my monitors that give me that impression.

BTW, I think we both have too much time on our hands and we need to get a life! LOL!

Greg

Lol I do have a lot of time in my hands sometimes...of course I don't always have a lot time in my hands. sometimes I'm usually busy with rehearsals with my bands(I play in 3 bands by the way). when I do have some free time, I take my time to write and record music with my side-project, writing songs for my brother's band, record an instrumental demo of my song ideas for my brother's band, and of course record sound samples of multi-effects processors on my soundclick website(that I always have time for during the weekends). so really I sometimes have a lot of time in my hands.
