Zoom B6 Owners — Question

I’m seriously thinking about buying a B6 and wondering about whether to plan on putting it on a pedalboard. Given its size and power requirements is there really any point? Very interested in hearing what others have done. I do plan to use it with three other pedals but they are currently on their own small board and could just sit alongside.

I like to use Zoom MS pedals for modulation, delay, EQ and reverb effects along with other pedals. Anything that big would ideally be the only effect needed, but that is just me. Running you other effects as a side car is certainly an option.

Where in the signal chain are you planning to run those effects? Before, after or in the external loop?

Probably before since they are a compressor, overdrive and envelope filter (Spectrum).

Let me share my experience. I bought a B6 not long after they released. It was fun to play with, but I struggled to figure out how to incorporate the unit into gigging. All the knobs, dials, stomps, feature, screen, etc... overwhelmed me and I ended up using it as a glorified tuner. So, I've decided to divorce the B6 and just setup a pedalboard. .... "It's not you... It's me."

Personally I didn't see the need for a pedalboard just for my B6. That said, I was looking for some decent protection for it. I have a regular gigbag it fits, but I wanted something more sturdy. I ended up with this one. Pedalboard and protection in one. The room behind the B6 fit my powerbank nicely. No need for anything else. 2 cables and a bass in a bag and a suitcase.

I guess it's a moot issue now that I already sold the B6. My struggle was it didn't seem very useful for fast paced gigging. Even running the unit through Bluetooth to my iPad, didn't help me with real-time adjustments at gig time. I essentially had three stomps I used for the full gig. Changing settings on the fly was not very efficient.

How are you integrating the B6 into gig time?

On a side note, I am setting up a pedalboard with: Tuner, EQ/Compressor, Chorus pedal and a BD-2 Blues pedal for distortion.

Can you use it in the case? Looks like there is some padding where the XLR jack is. I'll buy one if you can.

That was why I bought it. You can play right out of the box. Remove the top half of the box, plug in power, bass and line/XLR out and you're good to go. I'm not near my B6 at the moment so I can't show you mine, but there is more than enough room for the XLR out and the XLR and line out sit nicely just a bit above the edges of the bottom of the floor part of the case so no wires get bent trying to get out of the box or anything.

I'm very fascinated by this B6, I like the idea of having it as the main pedalboard, if it had the pedal included it would have been the best, I don't like the idea of having the external pedal separately... what do you recommend? I saw the latest boss but it doesn't convince me that much.. thank you very much

Next time, might be better to use the zoom owners club thread or make a new one instead of necro-ing irrelevant old threads. Many zoom owners have a sub on that thread, making your questions easier and faster to answer
