Zoom B9.1ut VS BOSS ME 50B

Hey guys...
I am looking to buy a multi effects processor for bass and wanted to know your opinions on these two....
I was told that the ME 50B has a small latency problem when you change effect...is that true??
What do you guys think???
The thing i liked about the B9.1ut is that you can hook it up to a computer and do various things....
is this a big advantage or can even the me 50b to this??

I'm selling my B2.1u for another ME-50B. I had an ME-50B a few years back and only sold it because I was taking a break from music at the time and "needed the money". :rollno: The B2.1u is really more of a modelling effect. I feel like the ME-50B is like a bunch of single effects pedals all rolled into one, and there is more control over the actual effect. I don't need effects often, but I want it to be simple to use and easy to control when I do need them.

I just got rid of an ME-50B I had for about 2 weeks. Yes it has latency issues and to me it was very annoying. The drives also have a farty synthy tone to it no matter what you do.
I kept my ME-20B which does not have latency issues. Has a great drive section. The ME50B is easy to use, ill give it that.

To the op, no you cannot connect an ME50B to the computer for recording, or any reason. However, If you are looking for a great sounding (other than the synths) multi, built like a tank and easy to use, then it will work fine for you. There is a latency thing when you change effects, but I did use mine live for quite awhile and it wasn't something that bothered me too much. I have since moved on to single boxes, but I blame my ME50B for lighting that fire and getting me experience so as not to waste money buying and selling pedals. I can't say anything about the Zoom, but it does get a lot of love 'round here.

That is exactly what im trying to do...
i am new to all the effects and amps and before buying pedals i want to gain experience with all the knobs and how one can modulate and combine diffrent sounds...
My main problem is that i dont know if this latancy issue is going to bother me or not...
How long does it take to change??
like a few milliseconds??
Would this be a really big annoying and detectable issue in gigs??

If you use the ME-50B in stomp box mode and click individual effects on and off, there is no latency. If you have patches saved to memory with mixed effects and you need to switch patches during a song, there is latency of a few msecs. If you have complicated sounds saved as patches that you need to switch back and forth within a song, the ME-50 is probably not your best bet. The GT-10B does not have the same latency issues but is a bit more expensive, if your budget allows.

Yea i had a look at the GT 10B
but the problem is that it's too expensive....
i am having a look at the GT 6B hoping i can get it at a cheap price...does that have latency??

OP - what did you decide?

I'm looking at selling my separates and getting a B9.1ut.

Did 25+ gigs using an ME-50B, and the patch-switching latency was simply too annoying. Loved the sounds I got, and it was very easy to use, but not great for live IMO.

Zoom claim .007 switching time for the B9.1ut, which I guess is effectively instant.

I have played through a Me-50B, I own a Gt-10B, I used to own a B2.1u ....

Honestly? Between the Zoom B9.1ut and a Me-50B .. I'd say go with the Zoom... between a Zoom B9.1ut and a Gt-10B I'd say go with the Gt-10B..

I suggest you wait a while and see what pops up here if the Me-50B is not to your liking. I have seen B9s on the Bay for @$300 I got my Gt-10B here for under $300.

I have used a GT6B ,and a BP200. I did not care for either. I now have a ZoomB91.UT and love it.
For me I am not very good at creating sounds, so this unit has the best factory sounds I've heard and 1 button tuner to boot. I like the fack it has a Z pedal whiich lets me have volume and effect control in one pedal. i picked mine up on ebay for $150 shipped.
I like it the best of all the pedals I've tired!

Recently sold my Boss ME 50B and bought the ZOOM b9.1ut. I couldn't be happier. I couldn't get any sounds out of the boss that I liked, and I hated the fact that even if I had the unit in tuner (bypass) mode, my bass sounded processed. Also found it a lot more complicated to program and use on stage than they make it out to be in their description.

The ZOOM has a lot more effects, and to me every one of them is light years away in sound quality from the Boss. They're a lot easier for me to tweak and save also. One of the things I like best is that the preamp section (and the way it's laid out) makes it real easy to get the actual bass pumping and cutting through the effects. In all other effects (multi and individual) I've owned, I've felt I had to sacrifice bass balls anytime I clicked a pedal. I don't feel that with the zoom.

If you ask me, I would say go with the zoom b9.1ut. it's got a large variety of effects amp and cab models. also it has a real tube preamp bulit in it. this tube preamp give the multi-effects processor a smooth and warmer sound. you can create a lot of awesome patches with this processor and I think you'll be amazed by the sound quality. any zoom lover will tell you that the zoom b9.1ut would be an excellent choice for a multi-effects processor.
