I was seriously going to purchase the B9.1ut, especially since it is now selling for $300. But when I saw I could get the B2.1u for $150, it was a no-brainer to get the B2.1u instead. Not that the B9.1ut isn't a good value. It's just the B2.1u is a so much better value. Compared to the B2.1u, the B9.1ut has no drum machine (essential for practice), takes up a lot more space and weight, and cannot run on batteries. What do you get for the extra $150 that the B9.1ut costs? A LCD screen, more controls and buttons to directly edit things, more refinement in the settings (0-50 instead of 0-10), a tube, a fancier expression pedal controller, and an aux in. OK, maybe I'd be willing to pay $50 extra for that, but not double! The 2.1u has the same (but less refined) eq, compression, tuner, effects, and many of the same emulations, as well as the same processor, latency time, direct out, headphone monitor, A/D and D/A, noise reduction, and USB port. The B2.1u is definitely more bang for the buck.

And the B9.1UT has line out versus the instrument out of the B2.1U. Meaning the 9.1UT can directly drive a PA power amp but the B2.1U cannot, another preamp of some sort or direct box/mixer combo is required to drive the PA power amp (if you use a setup like that).
But like you said, not worth $150 more, maybe $50-100 more for those additional features.

The synth is better in the B9.1ut, for what it's worth. (I would agree it's not worth $150 more).
For me, the real "killer app" with the B9.1ut is the ability to edit all of the unit's parameters from Windows/Mac OS X. Tweaking and programming my B2.1u was a pain when compared to the B9.1ut.

I had a B2.1.. I sold it when I got my GT-10B. Sold it for a song too.. (no pun intended) but then I got the 10B at a great price right here in the TB classifieds.. I was looking at the B9 early on and settled for the 2.1 because I felt it was more bang for the buck.. and at the time the bucks were n short supply.. One thing about the B2.1 that was annoying to me was the programming of it.. it was very cumbersome... but I liked the pedal.. is it the same with eh B9? I also found that the LED display of the B2 was not very good in the sun.. or even indirect daylight... but I see the B9 has a quartz display..

Have you checked the manual on for the B9? It has to be set a certain way to read the midi. Plus, you have to make sure and select 'Online' under the Midi menu.
I have a B2.1u and just got a B9. I gave the B2.1u to my daughter for practicing. The B9 has the librarian software that you can download and use via MIDI to set your patches. It's easy to use and is uber-powerful. You don't even have to touch the B9 at all! It's a really, really great way to set it up.

Finally I figured out what was wrong!!!! I connected the midi interface incorrectly. It worked after connect the OUT cable of the interface into the IN slot of the B9 and viceversa. Now I can edit the patches trough the B9 Editor application!!!
Yeah that would help. The OUT and IN labels indicate which way the data is flowing from/into each port. Connecting IN to IN would be like listening to someone's ear.
HOW's THE NOISE?
It's been a couple of years since I've listened to a Zoom product. I casually tried one in a guitar shop once - for about 5 seconds.
The thing was so damned noisy there was no point in even auditioning the effects; totally unusable.
Have Zoom products improved in that respect?

I've never heard noise of any sort on my multitude of previously owned Zoom pedals: Zoom 505, 506, 505II, 506II, B2, B2.1U (three different units)
All have been whisper quiet with the exception of overdrive or fuzz which sounds that way to me even with a standalone fuzz or overdrive pedal.
hey all i have to say about this thing is if you don't have one you better get one. i love it, its everything i read it was. the tubes awesome, its quiet, i dont have anything bad to say about it. i highly recommend it
Thanks for the info on hooking up the midi. I too was going in to in, never thought it had to be a loop. Love my B9 I tried A GT6B didn't like it got a BP200 didn't like it, found my B9 on ebay $150 love the sounds. More things then I need but one bank with the zpedal for turning on and off chorus, reverb and delay sweet one button tuner sweet. The sounds don't change the sound of my basses, they add to them!
Hi, I have the B9.1ut but I can not get the unit to work with the "Librarian for Windows" software. I am using Windows XP with a USB to MIDI cable. When I try to load the patches or save a patch I get an error message "Device Inquiry Timeout". Has anyone been able to use the Librarian software? Zoom has been no help at all.
I received my B9 this past Thursday and i have already used it for 2 gigs over the weekend. I didn't have a chance to edit any of the patches but i really liked the 'super bass' patch & the 'SVT' for most songs in our set list. I thought that the tube really warmed up the sound of my setup and so far i have been very impressed with it.

TBH, I haven't used mine in quite sometime, well over a year, and is gathering dust.
By what I remember, I purchased a generic usb/midi device from Maplin in the UK. For some reason it wouldn't work plugged into a USB hub - this may be your problem - try plugging into USB socket direct. Also, the in/out labelling can be confusing, try swapping the plugs around and see if that helps.
I was also using mine with a mac, not windows, so I'm afraid I can't help with the computer side of things. However, IIRC correctly there was a menu option in the librarian software to reset/turn on and off the midi control.
Hey guys, im about to but one of these if i can find an AC adaptor 12vdc 3amp 240Volt AU adaptor.
A question for anyone State side: Does the supplied Zoom ac adaptor have a voltage range 100-250volts??? if so, ill just need a Us to AU plug adaptor.
Im finding it hard to find out. Also finding it hard to find a 240v equivalent adaptor for use in Australia.
