Zoom only recognizing pairs of channels from interface

And I want to fix that!

So I use a Behringer U-Phoria UMC 1820 interface as my link to sending audio out on Zoom. I need to be able to send out my microphone, my bass/guitar rig, my computer's audio (for youtube/spotify), and my keyboard. That's four channels worth of information.

The UMC1820, unfortunately, can only be recognized as pairs of channels. In Zoom I can select between channels 1-2, 3-4, 5-6, and 7-8. So I resort to putting a line mixer between my sources and the interface and dump the output of that into inputs 3-4.

Do all audio interfaces do this? I would like to be able to send as many interface channels as I want to Zoom, and if possible I'd like to do it with the native drivers of the hardware and not some software workaround. And I need the form factor to be a 1u rack unit. Is this a Behringer driver quirk, or do all interfaces do this?

It sounds like you’re assigning inputs on a stereo channel, hence the sequential pairs. Can you configure channels on your Zoom as mono?

The stereo mono switch on the interface is supposed to solve that. Does it ?

Now I don't know what your goal is but there is an inherent latency between the sound coming from the inputs and the sound coming from your computer.

Mixing them in real time ought to be difficult

My goal is to eliminate the line mixer, and send all the channels of my interface into Zoom instead of being limited to one stereo pair. I'll investigate the stereo vs. mono bit.
