Double Bass Zoran Marković Tailpiece

Being a big Sergio Scaramelli fan I am interested in this unique tailpiece on one of his fine basses. Scaramelli says it took care of a G# wolf and made the bass sound better. It’s a Zoran Marković Tailpiece from zmtsound.com

Recently my luthier replaced my ebony tailpiece with a lighter wood, adjusted the tailpiece cable (length and width). The bass came back with a pizz growl it never had in 45 years. So the tail piece does make a difference in sound.

I placed this post in ‘Setup & Repair’ instead of ‘Accessories’ as it was a luthier setup that resulted in my tail piece changes.

Anyone tried the Zoran Marković Tailpiece?

I use one on my 1960's Czech plywood bass. The idea was to make its bottom end be more resonant. It worked beautifully and made the bass more resonant overall as well as making the strings action less stiff. I did have to get an extended E string for it tho. In my case, I had Gerold Genssler make me a custom length E to match the set.
