‘23 Short Scale Stingray!

Thanks for the reply, but I was referring to a REAL precision bass and Jazz bass, not a Mustang shaped object. Fender Japan has nice examples, but not here.
It would be cool. I agree. The market is 1% of 5% of 50% and you can bet that is what’s driving their decision. But I’d definitely be interested in a 32 or 30” J.
Maybe one day.

I had a 30" Fender JB62SS Jazz bass in the Classifieds here late last year. I got some likes but no nibbles. I was finally able to unload it through Craigslist.

No longer available - Rare Fender JB62SS Smart Scale Mini Jazz Bass

Which I guess simply reinforces your economic argument.

So is the "boost" something like on a L2000 or L2500? If memory serves (haven't had one in around 10 years) in passive mode those have a "boost" switch, which was actually some kind of treble boost thingy.
I like the idea that these are passive--I had a 3-band ages ago and it was too "active-y" for me. Would these sound a little more like a classic 2-band? Or something totally different?

Those are some pretty awesome finishes, but that MSRP is even more awesome, and what do you get extra for "Ernie Ball" and "USA" being on the headstock? I've got one just like it but without those two features and I think otherwise it's basically the same bass, isn't it? I paid $350 for mine.

It doesn't look like they come with an EBMM case, unless I'm just missing it? The passive pick up thing is also throwing me off. I think I'd probably just spend half the price on a US G&L Fallout, Fender mustang, or a third of the price on a Sterling if I wanted a shorty.

I asked EBMM about this, via the contact form. They replied "These do ship out in the Music Man stamped SKB hardshell case."

I'm just a hack, so, keep that in mind as I ask this question...are these really going to be $1,900 better than the Sterling counterpart? Or, is it mostly a pride of ownership thing, which I understand?
Only you can answer whether the upcharge is worth it but there are significant differences. I have both - the EBMM Starry Night in my avatar and a white SBMM that I had defretted. The body shape is slightly different as is the species of wood. The neck is significantly different in shape, finish, fretwork, and fret material. Hardware is better. Pots are better. Pickup sounds very similar but not exactly the same. Plus some of the SBMMs have had QC issues. I like the SBMM. I love the EBMM. I don’t see myself swapping it for anything. It is the bass I play 95% of the time and for basically all my gigs.

To the OP’s question… black. I love the idea of an ebony board.
