‘23 Short Scale Stingray!

Well, OK, but can you be more specific about what differences are worth paying well over $2K more?

No:)
Those who know; Know Those who don't know; Don't Know
I could have answered 'Everything'
That doesn't make the SBMM a bad bass; it is still a decent value against it $ competition
Their are many products outside Music Equipment that are not as important to me I am willing to settle and not pay or can't pay for 'Better/Best' even knowing the difference

No. Those who Don't Know continue to Not Know unless those Who Know TEACH those Who Don't Know, thereby knowledge increases and ignorance decreases.

Everyone at some point in their life didn't know until they were taught what they now know. Maybe they were taught by a teacher, maybe they were taught by experience. Experience is a good teacher, but can be costly and painful. Anyone can be a teacher if they know what someone else needs to know, and makes the effort to educate.

Thanks for the link to the video. I put great store in his reviews. He's responsible for several of my purchases, and never been led astray.

OK, so I watched the video. According to my ears and personal tastes, the Ernie Ball does sound better. I can't compare playability, of course, but I've no complaints about the playability of my Sterling. Are the differences worth $2K+? IMO, no, but of course, that's subjective personal opinion, and everybody's entitled to have their own opinions. If everybody had the same opinion the world would be a boring place, not to mention if it was my opinion, they wouldn't be able to sell any of these.

I hope every poster on this thread gets one of these in their chosen color if that’s their wish.

If like me they can’t turn that much cash loose for whatever reason, I can’t say enough good things about the Sterling Short Scale Stingray.

Mine is Daphne Blue/Maple & has been one of my best bass purchases ever. Looks & sounds great & so much fun to play. Another less expensive option.

Some folk have had QC issues with the SBMMs, including me on my 2nd one, but if you get one without those problems they are amazing bang for the buck. Even with the issues if not too bad, they are a great buy. I regret not having kept my second one. I returned it, bought a Mustang and added a Serek LZN B90 pickup to it. Frankly I prefer the SBMM to the modded Mustang. The SBMMs are not the same as the EBMM but I would not hesitate to gig with one or even have it as my primary bass. I had my first SBMM defretted and it is a great fretless.

I honestly like most of the prior runs finishes much better.

each run has had a color or two I loved and a couple I really wouldn't choose. In this run, I love the black with black hardware and ebony board. The only production changes I would make to it would be to remove the fretboard markers and swap the pickguard for an all black one so it was all black. That option would have given me more GAS than I've had in years. As it is, it just gives me a normal level of GAS

Plum crazy, Vincent Blue, Starry Night, Silver, Micro Prism, Bomb Shell, & the Natural Tim Cummerford have been the stand out offerings for me.

Man... this may be the next bass I aspire to get.

Pacific burst with roasted maple all the way.
Love that blue. Really tempted to make payments for 24 months as I'm turning 71 soon and well, who cares...lololol.

Just sent back a Blue Warwick Streamer as the neck was just too dang long for me. Sounded great, 8 lbs and easy to look at. So I've got a Sterling RaySS4 on hold till Friday, but now of course, I'm wanting the EBMM.
Yes, I'm a complete mess

The Sterling is a great bang for the buck bass and simply a great bass period. It is easily a gigging bass and nothing to be embarrassed by at all. Still, it is not an EBMM. Every component of the EBMM is of higher quality. QC is excellent while the SBMM's can be hit and miss. And IMHO, the neck on the Ernie Ball is the best I've ever played. Is it worth the difference in cost? For me, it is for my #1 bass. I have an SBMM that I had defretted and am very happy with it. I couldn't justify a second EBMM for that. Only you can decide whether the price difference is worth it for you.

Thanks for your input. It's probably my last chance to get the EBMM Short Scale so I'm going for it. And man I'm looking forward to it's arrival within the next few months. The wife said the Pacific Blue closely matches my eyes and I just happen to love it.
