Many times over the years I have browsed this forum as a non-member but have not joined before now because, I'm an acoustic guitar player, not a bass player and felt I could not contribute anything to the knowledge base here.
I've decided to sell my P-bass for the simple reason that I'm 57, retired and I just don't play the bass any more. When I did, it was to make multi-track recordings and these days, my idea of recording is to sit in front of a Zoom H2 and record a live AG and vocal take and be done with it. If I were to estimate the hours I've spent playing the bass since I bought it from Sam Ash in the late 1980's, it would be under 100 hours. It has spent nearly all of its life in the case.
It is a Japanese made (MIJ) Fender P-Bass, s/n: E8131xx, with the original hard shell case (OHSC) which for some reason is marked Fender USA. As best I can recall, the color was called Arctic White, which has yellowed nicely over the years and for some reason, reminds me of banana cream pie.
The all original bass weighs in at 8.95 pounds, with a 1.675" nut width, 34" scale.
The fretboard is rosewood over maple neck and no visible fret wear. I do not know what wood the body is made of.
Generally speaking, the bass is in great shape with a few slight wear/age oriented conditions. There is an inch long scuff on the edge near the end pin, a pencil lead sized pit in the finish on the back side of the upper waist, a strange BB sized chip (?) on the upper bout with paint still attached. There are a couple of faint marks on the 3 ply WBW pick guard like a pencil lead, that I couldn't buff out with a cleaning cloth/polish. The chrome hardware has some tarnish / oxidation typical of an instrument that's 25+ years old. These conditions were difficult to photograph but are included so you know the honest condition of the bass.
The case has some white scuffing around the corners, mostly from sliding it in and out of my closet.

I can not zero in on the year made, but did read elsewhere that the pots might help ID the age, so there's a photo of a pot as well.
The neck may need a truss rod adjustment as the bass has been stored in tune / under normal tension these last 5 years, so the gap between the top of the 12th fret and underside of the E string is 5/32" and sighting down the neck there is a slight curve. Nothing however that a turn of the truss rod can't straighten out. I have no idea what strings are on it other than they're probably D'Addarios and round wound? They make quick work of my wimpy guitarist's callouses.
