For Sale: MTD Beast 5 with Bart Pickups and Preamp
Czech made MTD Beast that has been upgraded with Bartolini pickups and Bartolini NTBT two band preamp. The bass also has a “J” style pickguard on it, which while not perfect, does look pretty cool.
The preamp does not have a passive setting, and the bass and treble stacked knob are wired in reverse (bass on top, treble on bottom.) This is the way it was when I got the bass several years ago, but can be easily switched by switching the two sets of three wires on the stacked potentiometer.
The body is in pretty good, but not great shape. There are a few nicks, the most notable being near the front strap button and in the middle of the back. There are a few small scratches, the most notable being near the rear strap button. All in all, I would rate it at about a 7 out of 10, other then the added pickguard.
Bass is 35” scale, and plays like a breeze.
The bass plays great, is set up with low action. The neck is extremely stable; I adjusted the truss rod once when I first got this bass several years ago and have never had to do so since.
Like all MTD basses, this bass sounds great!
Bathroom scale puts at just over 9 lbs.
The bass does not have a case or bag with it, but I promise to pack it really good.
