Picked this up from a fellow TB'er last year; the custom refinish definitely triggered a GAS attack, and I thought it would be good to have a fretless in the stable again.
Fast forward this year and aside from the occasional noodling it's hardly seen any playing time; just not something that I need for my regular gigs and sessions, and it's really too killer to just be sitting on a stand.
The description is taken from the original FS ad:
"Spector Legend Classic Lined Fretless that has been modded and refinished.
I purchased this bass new in late November of 2012; it was originally Black Cherry gloss, the only color that this bass comes in for the fretless model now. I had Pat Wilkens strip off the finish and I refinished with TransTint Cordovan which gave it that Burnt Sienna color on top of the Quilted Maple. I finished/sealed it off with 14 coats of Pure Tung-Oil.
I also had a custom Quilted Maple truss cover made. I replaced all the stock electronics with new EMG 35P & 35J pickups, new Spector TonePump with trim control, new pots, wire and 5 coats of conductive shielding paint. I also added a new set of Aluminum speed knobs.
It now has almost the same electronics as a Spector Euro and it sounds and plays just as good as a Euro. It has a new set of DR Black Beauty's on it. It has hardly been played and there is no wear and tear on the fingerboard. No dings or dents either, it is in awesome condition and weighs only 8lbs
I paid $650 for the Bass new and added another $450 in mods/parts
Total invested: $1100"
Currently strung with reasonably fresh Sunbeams.
$500 shipped in a double bubble wrapped gig bag and padded box.
Cheers!
