It absolutely pains me to sell my 4 string Spector, but I really only use my 5 string and a financial crunch dictates something must go. This is a fine example of a handmade USA Spector. Construction is just incredible, the whole thing just has a robust, solid feel that you simply don't have in other basses.

The body is mahogany with a quilted maple top. Neck is bolt on, 3 piece maple. Neck profile is nice and fat, just like a Spector should be. If you want a thin, narrow Jazz bass neck please look elsewhere :) Fingerboard is Pau Ferro with Spector crown inlays. Weighs right at 8.5 pounds so it's nice and light and balances nicely on a strap.

Pickups are DiMarzio Area Jazz which are phenomenal sounding noise free J pickups and a huge upgrade from the thin, sterile EMG's. This is one of the most 'Spector' sounding Spectors I have ever played. You want Alice In Chains? Here you go. Preamp is the Spector Tone Pump 2-way with gain trimpot.

Condition is probably better than you would expect from an 8 year old bass that was built to be played. Please expect to find normal wear on the body. There are no major dings in the wood, mainly just the indents and marks you get from playing and handling. It has a satin matte finish that is almost like oil which shows fingernail marks and such from slapping and knob turning. There is a little worming on the back probably from a belt buckle, but it's not 'buckle rash' and thanks to the wood grain you can't really see it until you look for it. Spector does a little spot of gloss on the end of the fingerboard where you don't play, and there is some finish bubbling here. Tuners have normal wear from strings (scratches in the black posts). Again very minor and only cosmetic. I'm very picky (probably way TOO picky) about this stuff and I'm just trying to point out everything. I can't really even photograph this stuff. Basically, don't expect dead mint. Expect a bass that has been played and is in fantastic condition, and expect a bass that you will have trouble putting down. It's an incredible player.

Bridge is Hipshot B, tuners are Hipshot Ultralites.

Spector Hardshell case $50 extra.

I would love a local deal so you can check it out in person! I am in Upstate, SC so I can meet anywhere in Greenville SC, Columbia, SC, or Augusta, GA.

Here's a soundclip. Nothing fancy, just my crappy playing on top of Honeysuckle Blue. You can really hear the depth and punch of this bass though. Like I said, it's the most 'Spector' sounding bass I've ever played.

Thanks!

I'll try to do some sound clips this week. I've been asked if this sounds like a Fender Jazz, and I would say definitely not. To me, a Fender Jazz is thin and lacking midrange and this bass is pure Spector. Thick, meaty, and has a nice singing midrange probably due to the mahogany body. You will not get lost in the mix with this bass :)

Thanks for the awesome comments :)

Played this Spector a little today. It's got this low end punch that just punches you right in the gut. Run the pickups 50/50 and it's got more of a subdued, scooped sound. Favor the bridge just a pinch and it brings out the mids. Favor the neck just a pinch and it's punch city. I'm going to miss this one.

Did you wire the Area J's is parallel or series? I had a parts Jazz years ago with Area J's wired in series and it sounded KILLER

Do you you still have the EMG's?

I do not. They are just normal 'short' EMG's though if you want to go back that way. You won't want to though :)

I'm actually very surprised this is still here! I don't know how much I can wiggle on the price, but if anybody is interested we can at least talk. I can definitely deal more if I don't have to ship it, so come on SC/GA/NC TB'ers!

These US Spector Bolt-ons are killer basses and a steal at this price. Look, feel, and sound amazing.

If you are afraid of the Area J's, I can work it out to put EMG's back in it if you want. These Area J's destroy them though.

Here's a soundclip. Nothing fancy, just my crappy playing on top of Honeysuckle Blue. You can really hear the depth and punch of this bass though. Like I said, it's the most 'Spector' sounding bass I've ever played.
