Where is the "No Longer Available" option? I'm not seeing it anywhere as an option for me, including the pull-down menu under "Thread Tools".

Did you click on "edit thread"? It's not directly in the "thread tools" menu.

I'm not seeing it as you've instructed. Your instructions say "When you no longer wish to have your ad be active, simply click on the Edit Thread option under Thread Tools and select "No Longer Available" from the pull-down menu."

Step by step, it goes like this:
1. Open your thread
2. Click on Thread Tools. A menu will open up
3. Click on Edit Thread from that menu
4. A box will open up, allowing you to edit your title, price, string number, etc., and thread prefix
5. Click on the little arrow on the existing prefix, and a small drop down menu of all the available prefixes will open.
6. Select the prefix you want (No Longer Available) and then click Save Changes at the bottom of the pop up Edit Thread box

The explanation sounds long, but it should take about five seconds total for you to do it.

Step 2 is where the problem begins for me. I'm not seeing an "Edit Thread" option from the "Thread Tools" menu. The only two options I see under "Thread Tools" is 'Edit Title' and 'Edit Custom Fields'; neither lead me to an option to select "No Longer Available".

Odd. Can you link me to the thread you're speaking of?

An alternative way to edit the field is to open your thread, lick the Edit button at the bottom of your post, click More Options in the quick edit window that pops up, and then edit the prefix in the title menu.

Ok, I figured out your "alternative way". Can you let me know why I can't execute the same thing based on your original instructions? In the end, I guess as long as I'm able to use the alternative, that works for me, however, it is different from your original instructions.

BTW - when I select the 'No Longer Available' from the list in the drop down and save it. Can users still reply to the thread or is it closed off for replies from all?

I'm guessing I have a different set of options due to my moderator privileges. I'll see about creating a dummy account so I can view the options from a non-moderator membership. Until then, I'll edit the original instructions to show the alternative method as the way to edit the prefix.

They can still reply, but it will not bump the thread.

I suspected it was a privilege thing. Also, when you said "Prefix" and "Edit Thread", that confused me. Also, you might want to consider saying something like, select desired option from drop-down list next to title.

Also, after all this troubleshooting, when I went back and did this:

1. Click on 'Thread Tools'.
2. Click on 'Edit Title'.
3. Select desired option from drop-down list (to the left of Title).
4. Save

This also worked for me. It is different from your original instructions, but after all this trouble shooting, this works as well.

If you just change 'Edit Thread' to 'Edit Title' in your original post, I think you'll be good to go. At least based on what I'm seeing with the privileges I have.

Bryan, is there any way to edit/change the initial price listed in a TB classified ad? I find it frustrating that if I choose to lower the price on a listed item, I can't edit the price that shows up at the top of the listing. Let me know if there is any way to do this, thanks! Spencer

No, but it's irrelevant as we can see all the edits a user has made and revert them. Doing so after a thread has closed in an attempt to deceive could get a user banned, which would certainly lock them out
