I had this one listed before a while back, and then decided to keep it, but I'm just not playing fretless unless it's my NS Design EUB. An instrument this nice shouldn't sit unplayed, so it's time for someone else to enjoy this unique bass.

Nordy unlined fretless vJ5 Modern #169 with Nordstrand Musicman style pickup (passive), cocobolo fingerboard, and special white pearl metallic finish with matching headstock. Controls are volume and tone. Near new condition with no scratches, dents or dings. This one also features the impeccable Nordy build quality and attention to detail that Carey's basses are known for.

Weighs in at 8 lbs. 9 oz., 19mm string spacing at bridge, 34.5" scale. Includes nice ProTec case (pictured).

$1550 shipped CONUS. No trades please, as I have my eye on something else.

By request, here's a shot of the side dots where the 1st, 3rd, 5th, 7th, 9th and 12th frets would be:

I don't need this because it's a lot like the Lakland 34" 5-string fretless prototype this is one of my favorite basses of all time.

But I am here to tell you that a single Nordstrand MM on a fretless is a marvelous and wonderful thing. Mine is active due to original Bartolini electronics, but I've thought about getting a different pre with a passive tone control so I could explore passive operation.

Net net - this is likely a beast of a bass, and someone should grab it.

Thanks Joe! It is a beast, and whomever gets it will be a very happy fretless player!:bassist::hyper:

I agree with all of Joebone's comments about this bass. I am one of it's previous owners. These days I only play 34" scale basses so sadly I can't justify buying it back. Every time I look at this listing I am totally taken with the beautifully simple and understated look of this instrument. It's crying out to be played. Don't miss your chance to snag this one of a kind Nordy!

Additional pics just added to show side dots (by request) and a closeup of the beautiful cocobolo fingerboard.
