Very cool bass, but in purge mode...

Not much I know of the builder, maybe TB'ers can chime in...guy I bought it from said Forrester was a builder that worked with Mike Tobias (I have no clue if this is true)

That being said this is a very well made bass...neck through and solid chuck of flame maple (not just the top)

Color is hard to tell in pics - almost a greyish brown tint to it...natural satin finish feels great.

Not sure what the P/U's are but they sound excellent, bass is passive (V-V-V-T).

Jazz bass neck profile, plays and sounds great (set up with Flats)...can get a very jazzy tone or more funky modern tone using the bridge P/U

Based on sale tag from the guy I bought it from it sold used for $1,200 (again - make what you will of that, hard to tell with unknown builders)

9 out of 10 condition easily, nothing to note as far as dings and scratches

Comes with gig bag

Looking to get $500 shipped via PayPal...hard to go wrong on this one for that kind of $$

It really is a cool looking and great playing and sounding bass

I have been doing this for long enough to know an unknown builder is what it is and even if it looks, feels, and sounds like a $2K bass will never fetch that, but this is a great instrument

Thanks - If I hadn't spent more than $3K in the last month I would keep :)

Bass is passive and 34 inch scale...fairly light, don't have a good scale but would guess right around 9 lbs

Good question on whether a de-fret or not...it is very clean so I would guess not, but not an expert in any way...the only de-frets I saw (2 of them over the years) were kind of rough on the edges and this doesn't look that way...it has the small white lines on each side and a black lines(which prob can't see in the pics) in the middle

Wow I don't really need another fretless (or another bass, period) but that is super cool. My love for white/cream pickups..TIMES THREE

This is really an intriguing bass. I think you're right, btw, that it is not a defret - the lines look very clean and well done (if it is a defret, it appears to be a exceptional one).

Two questions:

- is the truss rod fully functional?

- in the first picture, what is the streak of light descending down towards the bass? it appears not to be a mere photographic oddity because it has left a shadow on the bedspread behind it.

Assume the truss rod is working, neck is perfect as is, action is excellent so I never tweaked, I can try to ( usually don't tinker with truss rods on my basses, if it needs adjustment where I can notice it I take it to a luthier I know)

As far as the shadow not sure, it must be some illusion, the bass is in great shape and I would have noticed it I think

My photo skills are admittedly lame...I will stick with my day gig as a consultant :)
