I'm probably insane for listing this, but I'm really jonesin to get an ash/wenge MTD535. In fact, that's the ONLY thing that would interest me as far as trades go, and otherwise, I want $3k shipped and PayPal'd to the Contl US only.

The ONLY cosmetic flaw on this bass is a slight nick on the back of the neck, which won't show up on camera. Other than that this bass still had the plastic on it and was virtually brand new when I picked it up off of Brian @ thelowend.net Comes with Sadowsky case and all the case candy, as well as a pearloid pickguard.

I should add that the brazilian rosewood fretboard really adds a special midrange character to this bass that was lacking in the previous PJ5 I played. That, and I love the sound of this bass slapped a LOT more than the Sadowsky Metros with Pau Ferro that I've owned.

There's a 'keep your Sadowsky idiot!!!!' conspiracy going on right now!!! I'm going to sleep on it and see how I feel tomorrow. I just happened to come across some tracks of me on my old 535, which was Ash/Wenge, and it gave me SERIOUS G.A.S. pains. If only I could keep them all...........

Man, harsh crowd. Its a tossup at this point. Neither bass isn't something that I couldn't get again. The only unforgiveable gear sin, IMO, would be to have a vintage Pbass/Jbass and give it up. I love my Sadowsky, but there are times where I really need a bright and modern tone, and the alder/RW just doesn't get me there. A lot of this is considering what I think would be better for my band(s). The thing that struck me about the MTD clips I heard of myself was that I could get a VERY passable Pbass tone with the neck pickup and a lowmid boost. And then, of course, there's that inimitable slap sound of an ash/wenge 535 that my Sadowsky just doesn't possess.

I should also point out a frustrating element in this whole gear-trading thing: I sound like 'me' on just about any bass I pickup. It doesn't make a TON of difference. This only fuels the quest for 'the next thing' IMO, or in this case going back to what I gave away stupidly.

I should add that this sucker comes strung with D'Addario Halfrounds, though I'll throw in whatever set of strings the buyer prefers. I dig the taut feel under hand and the tonal mix between rounds and flats. With the Sadowsky EQ, you can go from thumpy Motown to razor-sharp slap tone despite Halfrounds being a darker-sounding string. That Sadowsky Pre has a LOT of treble if you want it.

At this point, the ONLY unforgivable sin of gear trading would be getting rid of a vintage Pbass. That or a 300 year old upright. Of course, I've never owned either of these and would probably end up trading them as well!

Timing sucks sometimes. I've been in that place many a time, where that dream bass was gone before I could even post my own FS ad. If I had a huge trust fund or won the lottery, I'd have a Tom Bowlus-size collection in NO time flat. That and a roadie/bass tech to come out to club gigs with me with all 30 or so of my basses. Sigh......

Love them half rounds my man! Got em on my 08 standard jazz v, pure soul. Now, you wouldn't be interested in an FBass VF5 would you? All black, rosewood board, like new. Oh and you are absolutely right, you will sound like you on whatever you put in your hands.

I've got a fever and the only cure is an ash bodied, Wenge neck MTD 535. And I already know of a great one right here on TB.
