GREAT preamp! This was my go-to preamp for years until old(er) age caused me to forego my rack system for more portable options. But very nice tone-shaping with this baby. And the green-face was better than the later version.

This is a classic SWR tube pre that provides a very rich, warm and articulate tone.
Someone will be very pleased.

Some years ago I tried many of the tube bass preamps. Some are loved by other players and I thought they sounded blah! LOL To each his own.

I eventually came to love 3 tube bass preamps, the Demeter VTBP 201, the Alembic F1X and the SWR Grand Prix. All of them sound terrific and, of the three, the EQ on the Grand Prix gives the most versatility IMO.

If you need a bass preamp, this is the real deal. They don't weigh much but sound fantastic and the price for this one is a real bargain.

Great preamp, I've owned 2, I did a flat mod on both, then it really kills. Very light weight and about as tubey as clean tube can be.

I have and use two of these in my stereo rig. Highly recommended. I use JJ ECC803S tubes and they sound better than the standard GT ECC83/7025/12AX7. (Reference cabs are Acme LowB1’s and LowB2’s.)
