Details

Here's a real nice Japanese TWB. It's probably about as close to mint as you can get for a used bass I think. Maybe a few signs of use here and there. Beautiful mahogany body with flamed maple top. Rosewood fingerboard. Brass bridge and nut. Hardware is all nice and shiny.

Original Japanese GZP-2 18 volt preamp which sounds big and is super versatile. Lots of headroom. I'd describe Tune pickups and preamp as Roscoe booty, meets Ken Smith burp, with Spector punch. Something like that. There are three dials in the electronics cavity. One for the output of each pickup and one to adjust the mid frequency point.

Controls are Volume, pickup pan, bass boost/cut, mid boost and cut, treble boost/cut.

These are real nice basses and pretty hard to come by in the USA and this is a real nice specimen. Comes with original Tune Guitar Maniac gig bag in excellent condition. Real nice one here folks! Take a look at the pics. A lot of bass for the money.

Primarily looking to sell but I'm a sucker for trying a new bass so send me a private message letting me know what you've got. You never know. I'm most interested in 5-string basses +/- cash.

How can you tell the difference between the MIJ and MIK basses?

The Korean Tunes are nice for the money. But the MIJ are simply in a different league. Side-by-side the difference in the quality of woods is pretty obvious as is the build quality. The thickness of the wood used for the top is typically much thicker on a MIJ. The Korean models will typically have an S at the beginning of the serial number and have a truss rod plastic cover that reads Tune Guitar Technology. MIJ Tunes have no truss rod cover. I've owned both and the MIJ just feels like a better bass all the way around. Right up there with the best of the boutique builds. But a MIK Tune is still a really cool instrument and nice in its own right. Hope this helps.

Here are some pictures of the 3 piece maple neck. No scarf joint. Oh and protective film is still on the electronics cavity cover.

Here's a picture showing where the headstock meets the neck.
