In case anyone is still here, the Beringer, Sustain pedal didn't really work very well, for me, as far as endless Sustain.
If anything it acts like a way to change my passive bass into an active/boosted bass. That's why I'm not sending it back.
I've got a Dunlop/Tom Schullz(Boston) Rockman, headphone amp. This comes close, but it's not a pedal. It's a whole 'nothing story why he marketed/sold them as a headphone amp.

5 coats of paint, before buffing.

Neck stripped off of logo, (yellow) lacquer, sanded, pad sanded to 10K grit.

Well I’ve been chatting with Pete a lot and he has given me a lot of information so it’s as close as I could get it.

Only real differences are I used Sitka spruce (laminated) for the top instead of poplar and did an access door and bolt on neck to prototype some setup things. I also did a little Kubicki style low D extension.

That book is not a foundational method, it is more a supplement for what is already out there. You should get a teacher and use whatever method they use - Rufus uses Rabbath. Simandl is still the most reliable method, especially if you understand that method books are to get you started and not an end point. Get a copy of Simandl New Method for the double bass book one and work through at least the first half with the bow, preferably with a teacher.

I'm glad you were able to make it work. It pretty much always just makes me want to stop playing and give the solo to the pianist. Fortunately it has happened lately.

I'm not a big slapper but my Jazz with Dimarzio Ultra Jazz Pickups has the best slap tone. In fact, I probably slap more than I should when I play it so I have to be careful.

This topic wouldn't belong in the LC, but it's not even being discussed in a way that is worth moving to another forum. I'm going to lock it down, and invite the OP to re-start it in the Basses forum (or whichever forum is closer to his intentions on where they wanted this to go).

It's a Peavey Millennium Plus from around 2000. I replaced the stock pickups and preamp wanting Lakland tones (OG 55-02 Bartolini's, not the newer Lakland pups) with Peavey ergonomics (smaller body, thinner neck, smaller fretwire) and it's turned out to be a really great bass!

strange timing... because im literally waiting for a switch to arrive in the post and I need to get a diagram so I can get someone to wire it up for me in the rather near future as it goes
hopefully making this comment will keep me in the loop in case anyone does post any relevant stuff
I will endevour to find out what the switch ive got is pin wise its an 11 position if that helps

I always used to say all that era Peavey bass amps had all the tone of a box of corn flakes, but OMG you could throw them down three flights of stairs and they always worked, and since they were affordable, it was the starter amp for so many of us.

I really don't mind a little weight, the main thing is that I want to get everything inside in one trip, because it's a long walk through the lot, a ways down the hall, and a long wait for the elevator, and then to do it all several times after a long gig and a long drive sounds... tiring. So I'll definitely have a dolly or cart, the trick is now to figure out how to make everything fit.

I've had my Kinetix a couple of months now and and it has performed like a champ on multiple gigs. I feel the MG800 is just another flavor of greatness and wouldn't even say one is better than the other. I feel like the Kinetix fits best with my country band, but I could go either way with my R&B/funk group on amp choice. The country band does way more shows though and as much as I would like to be a multiple amp guy I just sold the MG800 to build the funds for the next gear purchase.

Attached is a photo of the first three MOSFETS in my 2011 Walkabout that I bought used. Q2 is different from the other two and has a fair amount of flux remaining that isn't anywhere else on the board. Would you suppose that this MOSFET had been replaced after leaving Mesa. By the way, Q4-Q6 are all DL821 ALFET components.

The amp still works great but I've been wondering.

ALFET was one of several intermediate companies that manufactured or packaged lateral devices, they are long gone. There were at least 4 different companies we went through in succession as they appeared then went out of business!

Yours may very well have been repaired. If it’s working, I recommend leaving it alone.

Sorry read this thread at work on my phone earlier. I guess I was more responding to pingvuiini's picture wit the tape wounds, not the OP's wit the flats.

I like it and have been playing it with an Ampeg SVPII preamp and SVP Classic.. There's a few other pre's I want to try it with.. I did an emergency fill-in back in February at our local theater.. They had a brand-new SVT amp and cab to use and I loved it..

I love my Corvette and the Warwick sound. However, this being a Rockbass I've been told reliably that any more than a few years old, they were still getting their lower-cost line up to an acceptable quality. But there's been enough interest in them that they've spent the time to make them much better. At this point I wouldn't worry about one of the new ones.

They mention some of this in their discussion with 123bassnation in their interview.

Got a lot of compliments on the Jazz V from other bassists during our last gig, which is always flattering! I managed to talk one of them into getting a 5-string too!

I still have the stock pickups which lately Ive been running in a series, as they're pretty good at mimicking the punch of a pbass that way, especially when combined with a sansamp. I like to experiment with all kinds of goofy pickup configurations though, so I made an inverse template of the pickguard and routed out the cavity to be a veritable swimming pool. After were finished recording, I'm going to experiment with throwing a pbass pickup at the neck and go full Mark Hoppus.

These are some cheap-o Wilkinson ceramic pickups I got for like $20 as a proof of concept. I had to angle them because the poles are spaced incredibly wide and wouldn't line up with the strings on the CV. I took it to practice yesterday and I will say the low end sounded great, but I lost pretty much all of my high end. I attribute that mostly to the cheap pickups themselves, but now I'm curious to try a nicer 5-string split pickup.



Although I gotta say, something about running two jazz pickups in series has a really particularly nice tone I've come to enjoy. I highly recommend anyone running the stock pickups to try out a series/parallel switch and see how you like it too!

Been flirting with the idea of doing a German carve on mine… but before I have a Bronco (Deluxe ) mod to finish.
