Big E Speakers pt 3

I am leery of absolutes spoken by my fellow humans, but every time I play through this, Mike's words (This is the last cab you'll buy...) are being proven true:

I simply can not imagine a cab more perfect for me. :cool:

The second eagle has landed and she sounds so very pleasant. What a huge difference from the 46 I had a year ago. The clarity is to die for and the low end is very nice, not boomy, just very tight. If I were to some up this cab combo in one word it would be "clarity." I will have more to follow after more time, but I really like what heard today on electric. I have lots more rehearsals and I still need to plug in the upright so I will have more reviews to follow. Oh and everyone in rehearsal was loving the setup, they were all screaming at me when they saw the setup. "What is that, what is that, what is this thing!?" Then they all said, man that makes so much sense, lows on the bottom and have the top for the higher stuff. Then the keyboardist said, "oh it's perfect height for your beer!" More in depth reviews to follow and probably some video.

So the 48 got it's first debut with the Super Bassman I got a little while ago. The head went to the shop for quite a few weeks, then no gigs. But we went to rehearse at a really new well done club, in preparation for gigging there this weekend. The owner is a singer, and we rehearsed for him sittin in with us. Tube heads work with these bad boys as NorCal and Mike and others have discovered.:)
Drummer commented mid practice how nice it sounded.
Guitar/singer/bandleader said same. He called me the next day and said he keeps thinkin how "sick" my "new" bass rig sounded at this club. Of course they liked it with the svt7pro previously, but I think the tubey richness through the BigE was another step up for this mostly blues band.

+1 on the deliciousness of tube heads & MVW cabs. I am so spoiled by my Reeves/110 Flex rig.

Can we have details about the signal chain and recording method?

Did you try the upright with the subwoofer?

Here is a recording of the 45 I made using an EAP with the preamp into the new Clarus+. Recorded with a Zoom Q3HD.

I've dialed in the EAP a little better since then by moving it a little lower on the bass, it cleaned up some of the fluff in the low range.
