Big E Speakers pt 3

Anyone else see the irony in spending thousands of dollars and countless man hours designing and building a cab that delivers a full yet clear sound, which does not excite room modes and projects sound over a much greater distance than conventional designs and then have someone come on the forum and ask: "Well yeah, but how does it sound with distortion?"
Haha, yes I can see your point don, but some people want to hear that distortion projected farther than ever before and more clearly! These big e cabs can do that too. I have been finding that my Monique preamp makes a much bigger difference than it did with my other rig, I can hear a bigger change in tone between it and my genz shuttle.
And claimed to have better dispersion......
There are existing systems that excite less room nodes and project sound over a greater distance but they have worse(less wide) dispersion because of the laws of physics.....but they can be bend for sure
The enclosure for the midrange drivers is not sealed. I have not and will not disassemble mine for verification, but I would think that they have a MVW system similar to that of the woofer(s) but on a smaller scale.

Sorry it's sideways, but here is a good rock tone. This bass has 70s spaced pickups and is more aggressive than my garrison so it cuts better. Low end boosted a bit, you can hear it when i get close to the wall for sure. Once you get six feet away from this setup the tone pretty much stays the same everywhere else. I think a little shorter pole for me would be perfect so the speakers aren't firing directly at my head point blank too.

I guess we can put the whole dispersion, projection thing to rest.
I did not mean to imply in my earlier post that this cabinet eliminates room modes entirely, just that it does a better job projecting sound in a boomy room than most cabs I've played.
Yeah, it sounds killer, especially with that fodera, I hadn't played it through this rig until today, it's a perfect match for that rig.

I am sure you will! I had a relationship with a high end SF Bay area home theater company for a while. Sadly they got folded up in the economic downturn. I could not believe the bucks people were shelling out for their theaters. I would guess the companies that are still active are going to slowly take notice as you do more tradeshows etc.

Thank you all very much. Woodwork by Sam Crooks, son of Leland Crooks (of Speaker Hardward). Stain job (on short notice!) courtesy of my wife Lori, and I did the crossover. And yes the enclosure design is totally stolen from Mike's MAS-210, with his permission; consider that a sincere vote of confidence in what he's doing.
We did have fun pushing them a bit a time or two, at one point bringing the exhibitor two doors down running into our room to see what was happening, at first he'd thought his subwoofer amp had gone into oscillation... nope, a Japanese kodo drum track and 45 tube watts were to blame. Another time we played a pipe organ cut, which made the room shudder (and modulated people's voices according to at least one person present)... again, 45 tube watts per channel. That's about 1/20th of what they can comfortably handle. Most of the time we were good citizens and didn't crank it, but occasionally the temptation was just too much.

Yes you do!
Not as perfect as you can get with dedicated system but still a lot of fun.
On testing we dropped Techmaster PEB Time to Jam (old car audio Bass competition test CD) which drops 22.5 Hz @ close to 800-900 Watts from an Ashly KLR5000 Pro Audio Amp.
Got to have fun.
