Hi, just received my MBE410 cab (4ohm)....drumroll please....it weighs 45 pounds on my semi-accurate bathroom scale. I do believe this is a sealed cab....can't find a port anywhere! There is an issue with the handle, will have to check into that. They only put one little handle on top, like the combos.

I'm going to have to use my GK 2001RBP preamp into one side of a QSC PLX1804 power amp, to power it. I will write more after plugging it in and thumping on it for a while.

Driver break in. It'll also reveal noise and other stuff. Be very mindful of how hard you hit it -- Bill could give you some number idea probably. 30hz is the frequency I've always used and heard tossed around, but I think that's usually for woofers out of the cabinet.

This 'just' came out so probably no old threads.

I'd like to try it with an MB500 head so it would be comparable to my MB212. It about shook my house down with the 900 watts.

The tweeter is on/off like the combos.

I know 45lbs is light for that kind of cab but is a single handle on top enough ?
I like the idea of the MBE410, its only 4 inches wider than an MBE210 so would fit in my car better than an MBE210 and my MB210 .
I am favouring an MBE410 with an MB 500 now after reading some positive threads about it, I reckon it would be a brilliant rig .
Is it neccessary to run a `sine wave generator` through the cab, its not the sort of thing the average home/part time bass player has lying about ?

So weighing it all up, the current price for the MBE410 (not available yet in UK) is £365 and the price for the MB2 500 £425 which is availabe, the MB 500 does not seem to be available yet .
With delivery the price will be around £850-900 which seems a lot of money to me for chinese made equipment, could I buy anything better for that sort of cash ?

Uh, no sine wave generators over here.

It would be nice to have a handle on each side. The single top handle concept works great for most of the MB stuff, but not as much on this one. Plus it gets in the way when you put an amp on it.

BTW, this IS a sealed cab! Had no idea when I ordered it but it's really punchy!

If you look at the pic, there's no room for a port anywhere on the front. I'm glad personally, I was considering the SWR Marcus Miller because of the sealed thing.

The MBE410 was listed as 50 pounds on one sheet and 41 on another, 45# is pretty amazing for a 410 cab! Beats the SWR MM410 by 10 pounds!!

Thomann in Germany sells 410MBE at EUR450 (GBP377), and MB500 at EUR500 (GBP419), plus shipment cost. So it is EUR950 or GBP800.

Now, Markbass Little Mark III sells at EUR677. Current 4x10 cabs include only two models (heavier than MBE), priced around EUR1000. So you would pay EUR1677 (GBP1400) for equipment made in Europe. This is +75% compared to similar GK stuff made in China. I would not say that EUR950 is so expensive compared to what you get for your money.

I have just had an email from Thomann saying they have got the MBE 410 in stock.
I still have a niggling thought in my head that going for an MBE 210 to pair with my MB210 is the logical way to go, then in future I can buy another MBE 210 and the MB500 and ebay the MB210 and I would have a 410 tower rig which according to some threads I have read gives better sound projection than a 4x10 square cab ?

If you already have an MB210, the logical thing would be to just get an MBE210. Especially if you like the sound of the MB210. However, I can tell you, this cab sounds nothing like an MB210. Being a sealed cab, it doesn't have any of that kind of "boomy" low end. Also, I'm pretty sure lots of that big bass comes from the MB500 type head in the combo. I'm running the MBE410 with a much flatter amp. (2001RBP+PLX1804)

Yo *insertcoolname, the mids are there! They seem to be 'just right' to my ears.

I agree tallboy, certainly a lot cheaper being xmas and the kids wanting far too much :D
I wonder if using the MB210 with the MBE210 will actually reduce the boominess due to the amp working less hard, more headroom with 500 watts through 4 speakers instead of 350 through 2 so the amp will have to run at lower levels to give the same level of output ?
Sod it, according to their site they have the MBE210 in, purchase coming up :hyper::D .
I could always buy another MBE210 in future and then have the choice of a lot of 4ohm heads to go with them .
