Gallien-Krueger MBE410 Cab Is Here!

I wonder if using the MB210 with the MBE210 will actually reduce the boominess due to the amp working less hard, more headroom with 500 watts through 4 speakers instead of 350 through 2 so the amp will have to run at lower levels to give the same level of output ?
I wouldn't bet on it. Something tells me it'll be more of what you have now. If you like that then you should be good! They look cool stacked, I CAN tell you that!

I agree tallboy, certainly a lot cheaper being xmas and the kids wanting far too much :D

Have you lined your 210 with damping material? The lack of it has been identified as a source of the boom.

^^
If you open up the unit you will ruin your warranty, right? And according to GK the units were meant to be built the way they were. I believe their is an entire thread dedicated to this issue with the MB210.

Also, I have the MB212 combo and i just played a live show outside, and it sounded awesome and loud. I struggled with what type of amp to get and at the end of the day the MB212 was the right decision, and it is so ****ing loud. I have not had said issues with the bass boomieness. I did have an issue with the sound engineer, but that is another story.

Has anyone AB'd this cabinet to another 4x10?
None near me to try yet but I will be amazed if anything this inexpensive sounds good as compared to some of the other 4x10 bench mark cabinets that are discussed on this board.

Happy for you Tallboybass but grew up with that "you get what you pay for mentality"; of course China wasn't a manufacturing super power then either.

I'm going to have to ship it back to GK for an issue with the handle. (one stripped screw) That's right, ONE handle ...on the top. GK really takes care of their customers, so no worries there.

I really wish I still had my AE410 to compare it to, I think it's "in the ballpark" but it's hard to say just using one's memory. At one third the price, I wouldn't expect it to be anywhere near the quality of the Bergie. Compared to my beloved MB212, it sounds MUCH bigger and all the frequencies are well represented. It doesn't have that lump in the lows which, I believe partially comes from the MB head they use in the combos. (The MB2-500 head I owned for a week was uncontrollably boomy with ANY cab) Of course, the tweeter sucks...you want it [ON] or [OFF]?

As far as size, this is as small as a 410 cab can be. With no ports, they were able to make this a 23" by 23" square, 16" deep though.

My preference is not for super-smooth hi-fi sounding stuff OR baggy-feeling 'peg-ishness. It's somewhere in the middle and GK seems to be "my voice".

I'll try to get a pic before sending it back.

All the pics I've seen of these, they have handles on the side. A top handle will really be a bummer if that's how the production models are built.
Other than that, the reviews seem really promising so far.

The pics on GK's site show the top handle only. It's light enough to get by with just the one, but I might end up putting side handles on. I took a pic today...I'll put it up here tomorrow.

Here you go....not very artistic, but you can clearly see there are no side handles. Makes that 3-space shallow rack look pretty big.
