Good Amp Repair Tech NYC

Hey Fellow TBers and happy holidays!

I'm looking for a good amp repair technician in or around NYC to take a look at and possibly repair some equipment. Most importantly, i'm looking for someone honest and reliable who I can trust. Any recommendations?

not really NYC - but the Sam Ash in Queens, Joe the tech there does amps I think. Guy does everything, and does it well. He'll totally shoot you straight.

the E,F,R, and V lines go near the store. it's on Queens Blvd. . .

I was searching for the same thing... I have a cheapo amp I'm trying to decide whether to fix and sell or junk/give away. There's a couple places on 30th St.- 30th St. Guitars probably has good amp techs. There's another place, I think it's Rogue Music, that was on the first floor of the building I used to rehearse in (251 W. 30th). It's either Rogue or next door to it- always full of old amps, electronics, effects, keys, PA.... just crammed with stuff. Anyway, I don't know much about any of those places except what I've seen walking by. I'd be really interested if you try 'em out though. Please update the thread with what you find.

I've been to Jeff Bloch's before and it takes forever and a day.

There is a guy on SI who does great work, Scott Lebrio. (I think thats how he spells his last name) he'll fix anything on your amp, and will fix things that have a tendency to fail so you won't run into problems later down the line. Man is a genius.

PM me if you want his number. A lot of studios and musicians use him. Great rates too.

Mandolin Brothers on Staten Island is a world renowned repair shop, easily one of the best in the states.

I just got my ampeg b-25 fixed at Jeff Bloch's Guitar and Amplifier wellness center in Park Slope, bk. It might be hard to get to if you don't have a car.

Jeff has been doing this now for over 30 years. It takes a while but its quality service. Sam Ash subcontracts (sends out) its amp repair stuff except the simplest of tasks.

I've been into Rogue a few times when in NYC for a look at their used stuff, and have always seen pros coming and going with all sorts of equipment, so I would add my +1 to the previous post.

My brother was running a sound gallery there and he used them often.

Harry Kolbe Soundsmith 27 west 20th Street. He was phasing out repairs but I think he still does some, (11 AM -- 6 PM weekdays), 212- 627-2740

I used Rouge for a Crate warrenty repair on a TX Bass Bus, or whatever those battery powered bass amps were called. They were very professional and the repair work solid.

Doesn't do amps or pedals. But for guitars, basses, etc. he's top-notch!
Independent operator. Very experienced. Great work and prices. Fast turnaround. Totally honest and upfront. And a great, nice guy - no "attitude" if you know what i mean......
