which tech 21 is right for me?

RBI is specifically for bass, and has a number of suggested settings to emulate some popular bass amp or artist tones.

RPM has a sweepable mid, and is more general purpose. Suggested settings are for multiple instrument types including bass. IMO the RPM is easier to overdrive.

Hi there. It just so happens that i just received my RBI & have it & my RPM set up in front of me. As you might know, the RBI is the rackmount version of the Bass Driver DI (with a mid control) & the RPM is the rackmount version of the Para Driver DI. The simplest way i can describe them... flat the RBI is more 'clanky' & the RPM is more 'smooth'. I recorded this comparison of the 2 for myself yesterday (the playing is not very inspired as i never intended it for public listening but what the hey!).
