Another what (ibanez) bass is this?

Found this laying around in future father in laws basement. He dont know what it is and neither do i. Needs a setup and new strings but everything else is in great condition. Just wanted to know what it was and how valuable before i start messing with it.

I never saw that particular model before.

Check out the link. The bodies on some look similar, so maybe they were produced in one of the many Japanese factories back in the late '60s or early '70s. Ibanez sourced from a few different factories so it's hard to pin down.

I'd take good care of it, but it will never be worth more than a few hundred bucks at most. Still, yours looks unique, so I would take real good care of it.

This sums it up pretty well. Only thing I would add is it may have been made in the same factory where Teiscos were made. It definitely has that look. There are numerous models from the 60s like that, but they aren't really documented at all.

I thought it had that Teisco look too. Probably so about being at the same factory.

That Ibanez forum has a 2 pickup model that is identified as a 1963 Ibanez, model 1902.

I'd think that would be about a 1962, when Hoshino made their instruments at Teisco, before opening the Tama plant.

These things are ongoing ridddles, though, because there was such interaction between various factories and companies. They would buy batches of bodies, necks or hardware from each other to fill orders. We are left to make sense of it all, since there are no records available, and won't be.
