WARNING: LOTS of pics!

Finally finished the restoration of my ’67 Hagstrom H8! :hyper: I got it very cheap in 1976 from a friend who had no use for it. It had been converted to a 4 stringer, and along the way the G string bridge saddle and ALL the octave saddles had been lost. I figured I’d score some saddles and replace the octave tuners on the headstock (still in the case, but missing screws) and be in business. No internet search back then, and no local parts availability. Was able to find all the correct screws at least.

Recently, I had a local machine shop make a bunch for me (I’m guessing there are others out there with missing saddles too). Just got them back and installed them... Now, 32 YEARS later I finally am able to play her for the first time! Sounds sweet! Plays well (even though I’m a finger player). Also figured she deserved a new Moody Vintage Strap :)

After seeing a zillion restored P's and J's it's refreshing to see that there actually were other basses around back in the day. My first bass was an entry level Hagstrom. White with a maple neck. Thinnest neck I've ever played. Stolen back in 1970. Oh well,:bawl:

That's pretty impressive that you had a shop make bridge saddles for you. I have an in- law in San Fran who has one of those under the bed and hasn't touched a bass in 20 years, but he won't sell it to me. I think he's keeping at a reminder of his crazy youth- like the psychedelic van with vegetation all over it that's in the backyard isn't enough of a reminder.

Never had the flowered van, but we did have a magenta bus :D

Here is a before pic on the bridge & 3 original saddles (all replaced) and a closeup of the saddles/screws - I left the saddles brass and think it looks cool.

Thanks for all the positive feedback!

I wouldn't mind recording some clips through my A&H ZED-14, using USB out to Laptop...but how and where are the clips hosted online? Most site seem video orientated. I would need a legit site (Makes me a bit nervous, as I'd really like to avoid loading my computer up with viruses :eek: )

I'm on vacation for a week, so I'm running out of free time too (also have Sat gig / Sun worship team)

I do have extra saddles, and will be posting them on ebay in a week or two, but I'm willing to work directly with Talkbassers who are missing saddles. PM me if you are interested.
