Pimped Peavey - Pics

Well, I finished the pimped out cab. As some of you know, I have been on a quest to get a leopard skin cab. I dunno why... probably just to get a rise out of my band mates.

So I picked up a used Peavey 2x10 cab on CL for $50... and well...

Sorry for the pics, they aren't wonderful, I will get more after the batteries charge on the camera.

Before:
Pretty rough Peavey 2x10. Had a lot of wear on the rat fur and a ton of unidentified animal fur. Asides from cosmetics, the thing is put together VERY well.

After:
Well, it is what it is! I had to put the peavey logo back on. While they do make some very solid equipment, that logo is the most cheezey thing on the cab... and that is saying a lot!

At the end of the day, I really dig how it turned out. Next up is building the BF cab. I think I will finish it the same for a matching pair!

I was going to try to gold it out, but I was afraid that it wouldn't stand out as much. It is actually a bit more "silvery" than the picture shows. If/when I replace the drivers, I may do that as well as gold out the L-Pad panel and knob. I would then have to re-stencil the original silk screening...

The gold was actually an after-thought when I was purchasing the leopard skin.

Originally the plan was going to be an Astro-Turf cab, but the logistics of the seams was just too much for me to handle!

No I did not modify the drivers. Look at the first picture. They are just sun bleached from being old. They appear to be in good shape, but I can't be sure until tomorrow when I get to the practice space where I have my amp that has the 1/4" outs (my QSC only has speakons).

I would love to hook you up! However, there are a few problems:

1) Your 4x10 is heavy and shipping would be a lot.
2) Your 4x10 is probably pretty nice as it is.
3) This cab cost $50... I am guessing yours is worth significantly more. Notice I did not do my 410... yet.
4) The adhesive is NASTY. It gets everywhere. I told my wife that I didn't want to do this again any time soon... Funny though, she didn't look upset by that fact.
