Buzzard's Bass - BAD NEWS!

Somebody at Buzzard's Bass has potty-mouth...

and lousy manners...

and a third-grader's grasp of written English.

I e-mailed them with a few legitimate questions about returns policy and specs on a bass they advertise. They responded with an accusation that I only wanted try out basses and then ship them back on their dime.
And accused me of lying when I said this about the quality of an SX I got straight from Rondo:

"I'm naturally hesitant to buy a bass sight unseen (or sound unheard). The one time I did it I was lucky - got a SX P clone that was great right out of the box.

Here's their response:
I highly dougt any SX was correct right out of the box. I've been dealing with SX for about 5 years now and never have I seen one that did not require neck work.
And refused to answer a question about pickup dimensions - telling me to ask Kurt at Rondo, "He is after all the source and not me."
If Rondo is the source, why does the Buzzard's Bay site directly link it as if THEY are selling them? I'm supposed to be a mind reader?
Then I get this response after I tell them what they should do with their accusations:
"I'm the *******? **** you . . . you question me as if you EXPECT to get ripped off

Why don't you drop on by? You good with words on an email.
C'mon by. I'll show you a REAL GOOD TIME you ****in piece of ****~!"

Wow, that is classy customer service!
Maybe they've been scammed by customers in the past. I don't doubt it. That's awful and a pain when your margins are tight. I've been scammed plenty by retailers, so it's only smart to ask first about returns policy. If they'd posted it up front, like Rondo, there would have been no need to ask.
People sure are funny. :ninja:

Nevermind. I figured out what it was.

That sucks that you had a poor experience. I guess you'll know to not do business with them (him?). I haven't shopped through the site or taken advantage of the services offered but I would hope for something better than what you described. I can't judge though.

There is no excuse for bad customer service, however correct me if I'm wrong. I got the impression from his last response that you called him an ******* first when you told him what to do with his accusations.

Ya. no offense but it seems that the kind of guy who has a paypal donation set up on his site for beer money might be quick to brawl. I'm certainly not intending to use Buzzards, but I have fret files and an allen wrench. If the neck needs more than that I'll return it and try again.

That is all.

Hmmmm.....

Why didn't you post this on the SX Megathread, where he not only advertises himself, but when you go to his site, you find a link on one of his pages where people can send him "donations" so he can buy beer? I thought that was a joke until I clicked the link out of curiosity to find an actual page asking for credit card info, etc. Maybe it's me, but I never heard of a non non-profit organization asking for donations...much less for beer. I thought it was inappropriate, given the fact that many SX owners and users of that thread are younger, due the inexpensive costs of SX basses.
Did you not post this there for fear of being reprimanded like I was for bringing up the subject (while that guy didn't even have the balls to respond to my post)?

Pretty sure the beer thing is just a humorous way of paying for his labor charges, as that's the same link he uses on customer pages for those things. If people want to send him extra money for doing nothing, who would complain?

I'd like to see what you actually said to get him that riled up, though. I've never had any responses like that in the probably 40 e-mails I have back and forth with him about different projects. He does great work, I'm on my 3rd time using him for working on my basses.
