If I would have had a passive plate, I would have put it in this time around. Just helps enough to have a pre when I'm gonna direct a lot - like the majority of the time on the last gig.
Looking into a Sat night young, contemporary thing that will hopefully let me crank the rig.

Hey, we're on our 3rd thread! There's a lot of Lakland love in here. So here's my baby again.
How'd you get that kind of quilted top on a 55-01? That's sweet!! Is it an option on an 55-01 or was it some kind of special order??? And, the Nordy pups....I've heard great things about 'em! What's your observations on them?
I have a dumb question.... how can I tell which pickups are in my DJ5? I purchased it secondhand and am curious.

I'm planning on getting a 55-02 fretless someday as well. Since I don't play fretless a lot, I'm waiting until I decide and purchase either a fretted JO-5 or DJ-5. I can't play either before buying, there's no dealer near me. So, I'm gathering info from forum members to help make up my mind.

I'll be picking up my 55-01 on Sunday (This week is craaaawwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwlinnnnnnnnnngggg by so slowly). Can not wait!
The quilted maple top was only on the deluxe model 55-01's but they have since discontinued that model. There's one in the TB classifieds right now in a natural finish.
As far as the Nordies, they sound awesome. I've also got a Bart NTMB in there as well and the battery box was taken out and the battery cavity was enlarged to fit a double battery box, making it an 18v set up. Sooooo much output and headroom is no longer a problem. I had an incredibly hard time with the MK-1's getting muddy at higher volumes since I played in a small but loud church. That's not an issue anymore. Punch is everpresent, low end is growly yet smooth, and it's a little soft on the treble side since I roll it back quite a bit. I've made a middle of the road budget bass into a professional sounding main gigger.
All in all it ran me just over $400. That included the pickups, routing and labor, parts, and set up. The pickups alone were $217.
Hey Jesse, I know what you mean. I've been fortunate enough lately to be doing IEM stuff with Aviom so there is little need to try and cut through. Just crank it up.
At a rehearsal the other night with the LMII and Schro, it(DJ5) was smokin' though and I'm looking forward to a regular gig with stage gear. Nothin' like some pants flappin'...
Randy....two questions...what year was the bass made (first two digits of the serial number)? and what does it say (if anything) on the pickups themselves? if the pickups are blank and the bass is less than 2 years old - they are PROBABLY Laklands....

PPS - I checked into a "Sponsored Thread" for the LOG but it is too much for tehe fledgling LOG at this time....maybe in the future!!!

I just bought a Skyline Glaub with a Dark Star and maple board! Man, I've been GAS-ing for a DS'd bass for a while, and this one just popped up. Can't wait for the brown truck!

Wow, that's a beauty! If I hadn't just bought a DS'd bass...well, that one's going to go for more than I can spend right now, and I'm sure I'll be quite happy with my Glaub, anyway. But when the Skylines come out, I might be tempted.

OK - so Skywalker22 has placed "dibs" on a Adam Clayton "unofficial-signature bass".....not to be too far behind........want to get a low S/N..... (and because I like sleeping in the Dog house - or - put another way, I BETTER like it after my wife finds out)....I put "dibs" on one as well....August is enough time to save up funds - right????
But then what about the 44-02 fretless and the hollow body and the Glaub with the dark star...and all of the other GAS list contenders????
