Odd Fretboard on this old P?!?!

Never seen anything like this before. This is quite possibly the weirdest or coolest thing I've seen....discuss...

This is a Fender Precision Bass from the late 70's.List price over $2000.00 used. The fretboard has been modified with the Novatone Interchangeable fretboard system. There are 4 different magnetic fretboards, one fretted and 3 fretless. Each of the fretboards can be easily replaced by the other in about 5-10 seconds. Great for gigs when you need to change from fretted to a fretless bass between songs. The intonation is awesome on this bass and set up to play with ease. Comes with the Bartolini P-J* Bass Pickups. 3 in Black Shells.List Price for pickups. $216USD. Pair of vintage tone Neck and deep split coil Bridge pick ups and One vintage tone Neck and bright split coil Bridge

ya...I thought, that is weird, but in a pretty cool way. I wonder how it sounds.

Kind of interesting. As a pure player, I suppose the $1299 he's asking for it isn't completely outragous. Maybe a bit high, but where else are you going to find a bass that you can switch from fretted to fretless so quickly?

The Novatone fingerboards were an interesting idea that crashed and burned because they never figured out how to get the board to stay still, so intonation tended to wander around.
