birdseye wenge? (wood porn)

so i did a little lumber shopping today. i was just going to grab a pretty peice of wenge to make a FB out of, and then i saw this beauty. i couldn't resist, so i bought the whole board (8ft long, 9 inches wide and 3/4 thick). ive never seen a peice of wenge quite like this. it even has birdseyes!

ive never seen anything quite like this, so i thought id share. im seeing several fingerboards and a top or two coming out of this peice.

I love the look of flatsawn wenge.

Quatersawn just has no....well nothing to it.

Well, I wouldn't say "nothing," exactly; it's still splintery! ;) Aside from appearance, quartersawn does have the advantage of greater stiffness for use in necks, and the added stability that accrues because its rate of expansion/contraction is only half that of plainsawn.

btw how are those guys to deal with, Im thinkin about dropping by there next time im down in Torrance to see my dad. I could use some nice woods at a much more reasonable price ( was lookin at there web site )

those guys are really nice. and the warehouse is HUGE. its a great place to go id you need custom plywood or a 4 inch thick slab of black walnut. FYI if you have a company name you get wholesale pricing. where is torrance?
edit, are you talking about california? the place im talking about is in minneapolis, MN
