Coolest and Dumbest band names you've played under...

A thread that seems to run through my musical hobby/career is one of being embarassed to tell others the name of my band. With all of the dumb band names I've run across, I know I can't be alone. I will say that band names of today are considerably cooler than band names when I was starting out in the 80's.

My dumbest: Nothing can beat the silly 80's high school garage bands. Among mine were 'Synergy' and 'Achilles'. There was another that was even more ******** -- Ah Hah -- just remembered it (cringe): Pegasus. Ouch!

My coolest: My all-time favorites are "The Pierres" and "Uncle Virus." [note that this was back before anyone else had thought to use "Uncle" in a band name.]

Yours?...

:)

That's great. I usually hate witty names but ... can I steal that? :D

I forgot to mention a blues band I was in called "Ernie's Special Balls" (we had a giant round Ernie Ball parlour light). Wide range of debate whether that was cool or not.

I'm keeping that name. It may be reincarnated another day. I dig the Ernie's Special Balls. I was in another band at that time that was called "Little Mary and Her Swingin Richards".

We wanted to name our amateur baseball team the "Swingin' Richards", but the commissioner would allow it.

Hmmm...
Worst/ The Fabulous Knights, Pee Wee and the Sounds of Soul, Soul Authority, Stutz and the Boogie-gang, Chip Hilter and the Blue Moan Boys,FAK(I have no idea what it means)

Best/ The Boss Players, Pogo, Khol Brieze, Time & Destination

I played out once under a name suggested by our female singer: Grandpa's Wrinkly Finger. Almost played out as The Winslinpippy Airbiscuit Band, a name proposed mainly just to jack with the sensibilities of a certain guitarist, who threw a predictable fit at that suggestion...

I don't know if those would be among the best or among the worst - as Pete says, it's all in what you make of it...

:D

I'm not sure about the best and worst.. I haven't been in that many bands..

But once I played on New Years Eve (1999-2000) and the owner of the place called us "The 2000 band" or something.

But the best band name is IMO Bensíntittir Dauðans. It's kinda stupid but I like it.
