The Valenti Megathread

Status
Not open for further replies.
Since the number of threads related to Valenti Basses seems to be on the rise, I think that it would be a good idea to start a thread dedicated to those TalkBassers:

1. Who already own a Valenti bass.
2. Who are waiting on a Valenti bass that's been ordered.
3. Who are planning to order a Valenti bass.
4. Who are considering a Valenti bass.

Comparative photos and sound clips relating to options, etc. would be welcomed.

Okay, who belongs to group 1, 2, 3, & 4?

I'm a group 1, but I could well be back in group 4 sometime in the future!

Number four for me. I think is this is far overdue and Nino deserves a Megathread after the basses I have seen.

I'm going take the liberty of reposting the sound clips from my personal thread, since there seem to be a lot of questions about pickup sounds in the various Valenti threads.

Mine's got Nordstrand NP5 and J5FS pickups.

Clip 1 is fingerstyle with the pan dead center and no eq boost/cut.
Clip 2 is bridge pickup with bass boost.
-------------------------------
The specs of this bass (#023):

5-string (4+1 tuners)
Alder J Style Body
Inca Silver finish
Maple/Maple neck
White Block inlays and binding

Nordstrand NP5 neck pickup (18mm spacing)
Nordstrand Hum Canceling Fat Stack bridge pickup (18 mm spacing)

Aguilar OBP-3 preamp

Chrome Hardware
White/Black/White pickguard
No pickup covers

Hipshot B style bridge (18mm), chrome

HipShot Ultra Lite Tuning Keys
Schaller Straplocks

Here's the third pick sample, at 3/4 of the way to the rear FS pickup with 1/4 NP5 pickup.

Then, there's a slap sample with some mids cut and bass/treble boosted, a decent "smiley graph"

I hope that others will add to this thread to help consolidate information on Valenti basses and their components.

im in group 3. Dang you make them sound nice KayCee.

my biggest question about the basses has to be the pickups, seeing as there are about a hundred combinations. If somebody was knoledgeable about what the pickups have as far as tone, and possibly could attach sound samples, that would be awesome.

but thats asking alot.. :)

1, 2 and 3 for me. :)

I own a couple of Valenti Basses:

Ok, I'm in group 1, but may jump to group 4 for a passive P-Bass.

Mine bass:

34" scale 5 tuned E-C with an ash body, Quilted Maple top
Quilted headstock overlay
Maple neck with Ebony board
Nordstrand Fat Stacks
Aguilar OBP-1 w/ series parallel and passive tone control
Black hardware

The bass is amazing. Nino does excellent work and I am very happy with my choice to go with him.

I have attached a quick sound clip. This is a melodic piece using the extended range.

Group 4 for me!!!

And I want it like this one:
[Invalid or Expired Link Removed]

Alder with that top and finish. White pearl-oid pickguard. Rosewood fingerboard. Nordy or Sadowsky hum cancelling singlecoils. Sadowsky pre. Hipshot D-Tuner.
Ahh....someday!!

Oh, and gotta have that matching headstock!!

KayCee, . . . it sounds like your .mp3 for the Bridge pickup and the Front only are switched around. The bridge pickup .mp3 sounds more mellow, what you'd expect from the front pickup and the Frontpickup .mp3 sounds like what you'd expect from the bridge pickup.

Dave, are you referring to the pick samples? I believe that they are listed correctly, but the 3/4 bridge (and the fingerfunk bridge) have considerable bass boost.

The P pickup definitely has a different character than the FS!
