Wow!! Beautiful bass, Stew!!!

What are the specs (or else if they've been posted already, point me to the thread please ;) ) on it??? Looks like a Nordstrand pup.

well, as everything in the life is different now, I had Bill go in a different direction. some of the specs will be a surprise.

34" scale maple/purpleheart bolt-on neck
9mm spacing at the nut, 17 or 18mm spacing at the bridge
alder, ash or royal paulownia for the body wood
birdseye maple top, fretboard, pickup cover & headstock cap
single custom Nordstrand Fat Stack p-up

I don't know what the finish will be, gloss or satin...

Stew, so is the bass above not yours? How you changing the body wood lol??

HA!

no, she's mine alright!

I asked Bill to surprise me, so I'm not sure which wood he went with for the body... but I can't wait to find out! she should be coming my way *really* soon!

:D
On the finish, will it be natural or are you planning a stain / color on the top? If natural, I'd recommend the satin finish. I really liked it on my old 8 string.

Stew that looks incredible, easily the most appetizing conklin I've seen (although I'll try to restrain myself from eating it!)

That single fatstack is super cool looking. I bet its going to sound amazing all passive. I really love how my Nordy DC's sound!! And my next axe (in like 10 years:D) will be a fretted with fatstacks for sure!

Congrats Stew! I hope its in your hands soon! Any plans for a fretless then?

agh! how do I reply to everyone? lemme see here...

I'm hoping for a plain satin finish as that was what my first custom Conklin had and that thing was the silkiest, sexiest beast, but again this has been up to Bill's discretion. this bass is very special to me (akin in many ways to the Bee which so many people contributed to) and Mr. C always manages to surprise me and blow my expectations/hopes out of the water.

thanks for the cool words, G, and welcome back to the list!

thanks, Jake. and I'm glad you're not going to snack on my new axe! I have passive FS's in a bass I made a while ago and the sound is just wild! somehow I think your next custom will be less than 10 years away... fretless? I'm building/rebuilding one and Darrin Huff is making me one as well... YUM!!

if Carey wants the bass at NAMM I may bring her to the booth but I'll definitely have her at the house where we're crashing. if we do an after show hang (maybe at BassQuake?) I'll try to bring her along... that Bene is gorgeous!!

whew! am I caught up? do I have the slowest connection of anyone at TB?
