Yummy Benavente. And that Conklin is looking awesome too!

That Stambaugh is amazing !! Huge congrats !!

I'm back from my 800 mile round-trip to London for my Mum's birthday and to see progress on my 7 string Sei bass.

The bass looks superb and I couldn't be happier with it. I've posted more pics on my build thread, but here's a pic for here. The bass has some thinner on it, so you can see how it's going to look when it's gets sprayed. It's off to the finishers this week and could even be completed by the end of January. I know these things can change, so I'm expecting late Feb/early March.

So the next time you see pics of this it'll be completed !!

Well I'm back on the support group! Last time it was my Bordwell bass and as of today I'm now officially back with a Stambaugh going into the oven in April.

I don't have all the details yet but it will be a singlecut, neck through, 4 string Fretless with a full quilted redwood top and spanish cedar body. One thing I'm not fully sure of yet is the fingerboard wood. We're thinking either Pale Moon ebony or Maccasar Ebony but I'm open to suggestions. :help:

Chris wants to go with Aero humbuckers and a 6 way rotary switch to select between different single coil and humbucker settings and either an Audere or Bart preamp.

Just to tag the new thread.....

In the oven timed for NAMM 2008 completion:

6 string fretless Bolt neck ThunderBee
34" scale
19mm at bridge
Delano MC6-AL/V4 (with 4 leads)
Series/Single/Parallel switch
Bee Pre
Wenge | Bubinga | Wenge | Bubinga | Wenge neck
Wenge Headstock
Unlined Acrylized Bubinga board
Bubinga top and back
Butternut core
Brushed gold hardware

Should compliment the rest of the family nicely :smug:

I have now got the first pictures of progress on my AC guitars Single cut ReCurve ( see www.acguitars.co.uk ).

Alan and I have been working on the specs for a few weeks now - with many changes on woods etc. Final specs are as follows;

5 String Fretted - 35”
Sappy Redwood Top (and matching headstock)
Light Ash Body core
Quilted Maple Back (and back of headstock)
Acrylised Birdseye Maple F/B
Bibinga/Flamed sycamore seven piece neck
AC Custom pups - switches for series/parallel/coil tap
AC Filter based Pre Amp - looking forward to trying this!
Black hipshot Bridge and Ultralight tuners
Straplocks and Neutrick locking jack input

I think that's it. Here is a couple of picys, the first is the bits the second is my attempt at a mock-up.

Only three months to go!!

It's going to be another great bass from Alan !!

So does the acrylisising process make woods which were not suitable before, suitable for fretless ?? Does this toughen the wood is some way ??

Hi 7
Just what James has said.
It lets you use woods which would be unsuitable for fretless.
I have another bass which has a Black Palm board on it normally it is a fairly soft wood but after Larry sorts it out it works beautifully on fretless. I am also using it on fretted basses this lets me use maple boards without the problems of spraying the boards.
I just love these fingerboards.
Alan
