Most probably know Jairaj and has seen his Benavente Flame Redwood top. Last Night 6/28 is was stolen out of his car after a gig in Atlanta. Its a very unique Benavente and will be fairly easy to recognize. J is beside himself right now, but I'm sure he will post as soon as he settles down some from the loss.

I tell you, stealing instruments is like a waste of time! What are you gonna do with it? Keep it? The thief is most likely not a player! All the pawn shops will be on alert along with the police! I don't get it!

To the bass owner.............I feel your loss but geez, next time, please don't leave your instrument in your car!! Espescially something as nice as this bass!

Dang I feel so bad for Jairaj. I know how bad he wanted that bass because he inquired about mine when I was selling it a while back. He was really excited to get that bass and I can see why. That is a horrible loss. Hopefully somebody will track it down. A friend of mine had his really nice Warwick stolen out of his truck and it was tracked down several months later in a pawn shop near town. He had to go through a lot to get it back but he did and it was in really good shape. Let's hope for the best.

For a bass that unique, yeah, it's a waste of time. However, your average MIM doesn't stand a chance. They take it and sell it to their friend who sells it to their friend who sells it to the bassist for some band. That's what happened to my basses; a Yamaha P and an MIM J, along with a 100W 75lb amp. I can't for the life of me see why they staggered out with my amp and didn't touch the computer right next to it. Anyway, pawn shops didn't see a single thing; it was all fenced out to their buddies. My bass and amp are probably turning tricks for some Tejano band in Lubbock, and I was stuck replacing them (I think I ended up better off gear-wise, though).

For a Benavente, however, there would probably only be one in a given city, certainly only one with that striking a look. The instant that thing sees the light, it'll be hotter than Bassgirl wearin' nothin' but a Cort Curbow. (there are probably hotter basses, but they cover more :D )

:(

Sorry to hear about that, J! Luckily, given that it's one of the finest examples of a Benavente around, it should be much easier to spot. Sorry for the loss, and hopefully it's temporary.

By the way- very cool of you to stand with and help out your customers in time of need, Brian!
