Genz-Benz Shuttle Megathread: Part II

FWIW, I tried VERY much to like the ul310. It is a very nice cabinet, but the openness of it along with a bit of airy bottom (IMO at least) kept me from buying one. When I heard the NeoX 212, it was game over. Then I heard a 112, and it was really game over. I think that, had I heard the 112 first, I would have been tempted to pick up 2 or 3 of them.

That said, I am VERY happy with my 212. It is fantastic, and really loves to be pushed. It's an easy cab to move on it's own for medium size stuff. The 112/212 together just kills. It's as tall as an 810, and the vertical alignment really make for a great throw and a nice even sound out in the front. Of course, you can't drive that with a Shuttle. So, I think for that head, dual 112's would be the best setup. Small rig, and a medium/big rig.

Having read your posts I'm fairly interested in checking out a Shuttle 6.0. In fact I'm on the verge of buying a LMII, but the tube pre of the Shuttle has really gotten me thinking that the Shuttle 6.0 is probably more up my alley...
But my problem is where to get one in Europe? Any ideas?

Couple questions for you guys...

From outward appearance it seems these two amps are very similar in terms of layout and design... with the shuttle being smaller a few things had to be omitted (like dual inputs) to fit it on the front plate.

Is there any sound difference between the two or are they virtually identical? Granted I'm not talking about how the different power amp design might affect the tone. I'm just saying for the average bassist is there a notable difference in tone?

My other question... Can the shuttle run two ohms or be converted to two ohms like the neo pak?

I have both the Neo-Pak and the Shuttle 6.0 and I have to say the tone is very similar if not identical to my ear....also the tone knobs have more or less similar effect on the overall tone on each. Of course the 6.0 has tons more headroom than the Neo-Pak. My Neo-Pak came 2 Ohm-ready right out of the factory being one of the last production units. From what I have read here the Shuttle will never be 2 ohm capable due to some difference in design.

Hello- they will sound VERY similar as they are the same front end.

The Shuttle cannot and will not be updated to run at 2 ohms.

I know a lot of you guys are jonesing for the newest gear that gets hyped. Remember a couple years ago when the Berg Ip's were introduced. Many megathreads on those back then. I jumped on board and bought an Ip112. Never regreted it, except for the big ding in my checkbook!
The Shuttles now own the spotlight, and I bought one of those too!
The 3.010t to be exact.
Let me tell you, these things live up to the hype! If you are on the fence
about choosing the 3.0 vs 6.0, Here is my 0.02.
The 3.0t at 175 watts is a little bundle of power. When I add my Berg ht112 under it at 300 watts, it kicks serious butt. the 112 berg becomes a sub woofer and with the 3.0t on top kicked back like a monitor, It's something to behold. Its damn loud, and I'm a guy used to pushing 1000 watts with my berg IP112/HT112 stack. I don't know now where I would need more than those 300 watts. Big gigs have pa support and this little mini stack is just kills tone wise too. I don't know if I will use my Berg ip that much any more.
I'm sure the tube guys are gonna want that 6.o for the tube pre, but the fet pre in the 3.0 is very sweet and musical. Handle low b no problem.
As a bonus, I can run just the preamp out into my IPstack and there's another killer combo!
It seems that just buying the 3.0t has given me many new lightweight options/combinations that I didn't have before. I'm a very happy camper at this point.
So the GB lives up to the hype, for once I'm not mad at myself for getting caught up in it, just like I wasn't when I bought the IP. But the GB Shuttle is affordable to most everyone, unlike the Berg/Epi gear.

Does anyone have a STL3.0 10t and a STL6.0 yet? I guess I'm wondering if the 6.0 is too much for the STL10t extension cab. I can hypothesize that by pushing the little cab with the LFboost engaged that these might blow. It would be 375 watts into a 200 watt speaker. Also, it is intriguing to consider the sound of a STL6.0 12T with the the 10t extension. I wonder if this would yield results like the Epi UL112/110 combo.

Can anyone chime in with real world experience?

Okay I just got off the phone and ordered one. 549 with shipping. Chose it over Gk , Eden and Traynor, I hope its everything I heard it was. And Iv'e heard alot of good things about it. The company I ordered it from said the 6.0 wasnt out yet?

+1 on all accounts. I have no experience with the 3.0, but I can tell you the 6.0 delivers in every aspect. I personally love the way the preamp stages work and can't imagine it being any better. It is really musical and diverse.

Well, I didn't read ANY of the threads here before I bought my 3.0-10 last Friday.
I'd been doing my homework by both reading online and going out and trying every combo I could find after my Markbass 121P started buzzing. (GC gave me almost full credit after 6 months of using the 121P)
I tried and bought the Benz at the Atlanta Bass Gallery. I was so impressed by it's sound and features I bought one. The power, weight, tone, and price are unparalleled in my opinion.
I've already used it on three gigs. I tried it in a huge church hall with a loud trio just to see if it could do the job. I had just enough stage volume on this fairly loud gig before I even went through the PA. When I finally plugged into the PA, it was amazing.
I tried it on a couple of other small to medium sized jazz gigs and it sounded amazing. The fundamentals come through on the lowest of notes. The speaker can handle my low B without a blink.
I too hooked it up to my Bergie 1X12 later on and it was amazing.
Highly endorse it!!!
