Genz-Benz Shuttle Megathread: Part II

I finally pulled the trigger! I have the 6.0+210 combo sitting here next to me (a road less traveled it seems) and I'm LOVING it! Honestly, I can't see using the 6.0 and Shuttle 210 in too many contexts beyond practicing, small gigs, and medium gigs with few instruments, but for those applications the focus of this cab is just great. It will be able to handle much bigger things too if it's put through the PA.
Now, on to the beasts. I tried the Shuttle 6.0 into the UB410 at the shop and DAYUM it sounded great, but the pairing that floored me where the ones i made at home: STL6.0--->NEOX210T and STL6.0--->NEOX212T. Talk about VOLUME and TONE!!!! The 212 was honestly too beastly to keep in my room. It gave me a headache with the shuttle on 4 clicks from OFF on the master, but I enjoyed every second of it
. I will only use that bad boy for medium gigs with a dense mix and anything that requires MAJOR force, because this pair is just beyond words. For everything else, there's MasterCard....
...i mean, my NEOX210T 
This combo sounds AWESOME. I think it blows away anything else I've tried in the weight/size range. Mids are there, lows are there, and highs are there....all in just the right amount. I'm not going to say it's "flat" but it colors in a way that will not interfere with the voice of your bass. It so musical!! That's honestly the best word to describe all these combos and the shuttle...and actually all of GB's gear. Musical just the way it should be. Anyway, back to playing for me!

Pretty much the same here. I can't practice for long with the Neox 212T b/c of the air pressure that it puts out in the area where I practice at home. My ears can feel it and I don't even play loud. Just a lot of air pressure. I'm thinking of picking up a Neox 112 but I'd like to hear the smaller Shuttle extensions first (maybe).
That 112 is a sick cab man, the shuttle 210 is a great little practice cab. I'm surprised at the amount of headroom it has w/ the 6! My personal favorite practice cab is actually the NEOX210. It sounds much bigger than the 112 at low volumes so I end up having more fun playing because of the sick tone I'm getting

Did you ever get together with Ken (Kjung) to do some comparisons? I'm following in your footsteps with an Alleva Coppolo LG5 on order, and I am already gigging with my Shuttle 6.0 regularly. I am looking for a different cab (or cabs) to try with it as an alternative to my Epi UL310 (s2). I'm thinking I'd love to score the 112 combo cabinet, and then try putting another 112 underneath for bigger gigs. Mmmmm
But I'll probably score a couple NeoX112's based on some very helpful consultations I've gotten. More to come!
You should see the pressure levels with the Bag Ends (you will, of course). My room is too small to crank in. Even moderate volumes and you can feel it!

As for a A/B- there all good, just different flavors of good.
So far this thing is SCREAMING killer tone.
Just like I like it. Not too clean with a little bit of Jazz Bass "dirt" in there!!!
In the end, I'm really going to sound like myself.
Be it GB, MB or whoever. It's just a matter who gets me there more comfortable and without a second guess.
Up to this point, the 6.0 acts and sounds like an amp that cost WAY more than it does.
This thing is the real deal. The first small "ultra-light" head that delivers the goods with warmth, punch, true power and tone.
IMO, Genz Benz effectively raised the bar in this category to a WHOLE new higher level.
The new bench mark has arrived...............
Well said Mike. I agree, I still sound like me regardless of the rig. I love the Shuttle 6.0. The build quality, features and tone keep up with any amp on the market. Lead sleds and all.

I've been feeling similarly drawn lately. I just wish I could crank up the 6.0 through a pair of these before actually pulling the trigger. There are two GB dealers in the city I work in, but not a single NeoX cab (of any configuration) in stock.
One of the dealers is a dealer "on paper" only. They admit they've never stocked a single piece of GB gear. At all.
I've compared them, but unfortunately only through 1x10 cabs. There was no noticeable volume difference into that cab, as the 3.0 really gives all that cab can take. The tone difference is there ... tube pre versus FET. The 3.0 is, to my ears, very warm, but of course can't do the tube grit thing.
I'm not sure if anyone on the board has done a good A/B into larger cabs for volume / SPL comparisons. Maybe Roger (Hasbeen) has, during developement and testing??

Every gig I've played with the ministack so far has been with my fretless Stingray 5. I got out my '62 Reissue PBass this afternoon, though, and plugged it in. Wow. This rig loves it some PBass ...
I liked it so much that I decided to use it on the gig tonight with the blues band. I ran through the tunes to make sure I could do everything that needed doing on 4 strings instead of 5, and made adjustments where necessary. I showed up to our run-through before the gig, pulled out the Precision, and said "I'm going old-school tonight, guys ..." They were psyched, especially the guitarist / frontman. After two tunes he said "I'm digging the P, man ... you play great fretless, but the fretted P is just perfect for this."
Gig went great, as well. Guess I'm playing a fretted P a lot from here on out. Bizarre ... that's only the second gig I've played on a fretted bass in the last 10 years. I didn't even own a fretted bass for most of that time. But I like it!

+1 re: the unbelievable volume of the 6.0/212T. Last night's gig was a fairly loud rock cover band with one of the loudest drummers in town. Dialed up a comfortable stage volume, and wound up filling the 100X200 room with pretty much nothing in the FOH. And the 6.0 master was set at about 8:30! Unbelievable! Admittedly, the pre gains were up pretty high to produce some healthy tube grind, but still. This thing flat out rocks.
But moving the 212T is a pain. It desperately needs a center handle like the Berg NV series so that it can be pulled with one hand. As it is, it's a two-hand push job only. Anybody know where Berg gets their handles?
